INFJ Singers

Us being J types seem to be more harder on the outside as we have this drive to do something, we are known for being perfectionists, P's on the other hand tend to be more lad back and relaxed.

Yes, precisely. I've noticed this among friends. I tend to be strongly drawn to FPs for this very reason; on the whole, they tend to be laid-back and relaxed, or more so than Js. They're also not evaluative in the same way Js are. This trait among Js can result in a certain harshness, even if unintended and even among NFJs.

ok, i'll name one:

Randy Travis <<--- sang about love and broken hearts

in all truth this is a requirement for any formal country singer, now play "would you go with me"

I have always felt that Jewel and Carrie Underwood are infj... what about that Taylor Swift chick?

Jane Tilley
, the singer of Perfume Tree (which has been my favorite band for a number of months now). I don't have a single doubt in my mind, she has to be an INFJ. The music and the lyrics totally define it down to a very deep level, and here is an example (with lyrics) to prove it. It isn't just this song either. Nearly everything about this band speaks of INFJ.

Perfume Tree - Home
Genre: Trip-Hop/Electronic

Lyrics:

Say what you like, I don't know what you're trying to tell me
you can talk all night, but it won't change the smallest thing
'cos in my mind a thousand thoughts lie scattered all around the room
around my home

Lapsed into space, I don't hear a word you're saying
My mind a million miles from all the noise of everyday
an existential runaway, riding on a train of thought
no turning back

Glide away from here, away from all that holds us in
I dream of you in open space, in open air, in brightest sun
And in my heart that skipping beat is spelling ever out your name
it sounds like home, you are my home

Sade???

"King of Sorrow"

I'm crying everyone's tears
And there inside our private war
I died the night before
And all of these remnants of joy and disaster
What am I suppose to do

I want to cook you a soup that warms your soul
But nothing would change, nothing would change at all
It's just a day that brings it all about
Just another day and nothing's any good

The DJ's playing the same song
I have so much to do
I have to carry on
I wonder if this grief will ever let me go
I feel like I am the king of sorrow, yeah
The king of sorrow

I suppose I could just walk away
Will I disappoint my future if I stay
It's just a day that brings it all about
Just another day and nothing's any good

The DJ's playing the same song
I have so much to do
I have to carry on
I wonder will this grief ever be gone
Will it ever go
I'm the king of sorrow, yeah
The king of sorrow

I'm crying everyone's tears
I have already paid for all my future sins
There's nothing anyone
Can say to take this away
It's just another day and nothing's any good

I'm the king of sorrow, yeah
King of sorrow
I'm the king of sorrow, yeah
King of sorrow

Yep, I've seen Jewel in concert twice. One time I was very close and the place was not all that big. I would say INFJ too. And what an absolute Angel. Lovely, smart, talented, funny, and a very warm heart.

Taylor Swift seems more like an INFP

Thom Yorke always struck me as an INFJ.

Yeah? I was considering that...

A few that came to mind:

Natalie Merchant
Alanis Morrisette
Lorena McKennitt
Dido
Jewel

Hard to think of any males...

Sufjan Stephens
Gary Jules
The lead singer of Brand New
John Lennon
and...possible Julia Stone.

I've heard Cyndi Lauper has described herself as INFJ. I couldn't find anything to confirm this, but it seems a fair call to me.

INFJ Men Singers

I'll throw out a couple of older (guy) singers for consideration:

David Bowie~

Dennis DeYoung (Styx)~

......now that I think about it I heard he had a huge ego--very un-INFJish. His songwriting is very INFJ though. Hmm.....

David Bowie- ISTP or INFJ.
Dennis DeYoung- his ego is enormous. no, you're right. based on his music, a sensor as well.

Gerard Way based on mannerisms and an interview. he has good control of his body, and was compelled to change his lifestyle after 9/11. ENFJ?

buut i've only ever seen 2 MCR videos, and heard 1 song. whatever.

Matt Berninger, from "The National".

The guy...well, let's just say it feels like he exudes INFJ-ness, even on stage. But I'd say this is a group entirely made of introverts, which is kind of rare.
