City of Lost children- Jean Pierre Jeunet
Citizen Kane- Welles
Day of Wrath - Dreyer

I also love City of Lost Children (Did you see Dellecatessen??)

(I can't think of 5. )

Ha Yes I have on DVD! Love it! Who knew cannibalism could be so charmingly whimsical?

I don't have five solid favorites either but a few that I recently pulled from the vault to watch and have enjoyed pushing on my friends are:
Moulin Rouge
Welcome to the Dollhouse
Jacob's Ladder
Rushmore (Classic, BN!)

Oh, this is difficult....hmm...

Gone With The Wind

3. Dances With Wolves
4. The Professional
5. Cool Hand Luke

Stardust
Drop Dead Fred
Detroit Rock City
Elf

1. A Series of Unfortunate Events
2. The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
3. 8 Mile
4. Contact
5. Science of Sleep

This should tell us quite a bit...

Mine are...

1. Phonebooth
2. Independence Day
3. Office Space
4. The Matrix
5. The Count of Monte Cristo

Phonebooth was surprisingly scary and got me hooked in a few minutes.

World's Fastest Indian
School of Rock
Kenny
Naked Gun (any one of them)

and I think that if I watched Wayne's World, Animal House and Easy Rider, they'd make the list, look really good.

And I'm curious about Moulin Rouge (the 2001 film not the older one) partly though because one of my friends says its her favourite and we think pretty similar

A baker's dozen more, for good measure:

  1. Goodfellas
  2. Le Fabuleux destin d'Am

In no particular order:

Stand By Me
Tombstone
Labyrinth
Terminator 2
All Clint Eastwood movies, except "Every Which Way But Loose" & "Any Which Way You Can"
Dead Poets Society
Pulp Fiction
Shawshank Redemption
A Bronx Tale
Goodfellas
Deliverance
Young Guns 2
Swing Kids

OK - that's my baker's dozen. I cheated with Clint, I know. Tehre are soooo many more that I could put on here.
