Good animes or manga

Claymore, Death Note, Clannad, Shakugan no Shana, Cowboy Bebop, Serial Experiments Lain are my favorites.

SEL is one of the most innovative series I've ever seen, though admittedly it got a bit hard to follow for me in the later episodes.

Samurai Champloo is one of my favorites, and it also has a fantastic downbeat soundtrack.

Im always reading manga's so I'll post some more up that I recommend;
In my personal opinion both of these manga's are highly underrated.

OMG! I thought I'd never be able to read this. I stumbled across it like 7 years ago then forgot about it. THANK YOU, Hotkebab!

I recommend Berserk, you can't not love it. There is an Anime also, but it covers only a small portion of the manga series.

Some favorites of mine are:
- Meine Liebe
- Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
- Maria-sama ga Miteru
- Rozen Maiden
- Loveless
- Elfen Lied
- Saikano
- Utawarerumono
- Yami no Matsuei
- Spiral ~Suiri no Kizuna~
- Death Note
- Doubt!
- Wolf's Rain

The two absolute must watch from the list would be Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Elfen Lied, while the two must read are Yami no Matsuei and Spiral ~Suiri no Kizuna~. :tongue1:

Well, to avoid repeating what everyone above me has said already, I'll just mention I few I didn't see when I skimmed.

Manga:

Countrouble
Kanokon
Helen ESP (get over the fact it's about Helen Keller)
Higurashi (any series will do)

Anime:
Kanokon (same characters as the anime, but it focuses on the comedic and ecchi aspects)
Karin
Kanon (the longer series... not sure which year that is)
The Familiar of Zero
Spice and Wolf
Higurashi~When they Cry~
Zoids (Chaotic Century had the best plot, but I felt Zero Century ended with more of a bang... Fuzors was just ridiculous)
Princess Tutu

Has anyone mentioned avatar the last airbender? One of my favourites easily, I also like that although all of the elements seem to have a second ability, water's ability to turn to ice seems to be standard for the water benders, found it kinda symbolic in a way.

I was tempted to mention it, but it's not technically an anime... according to a lot of the fans on the Tv.com forums, anyhow.

Anyway, I agree that it was a great show. Ended a bit rushed, but definitely worth a watch.

I read a lot of manga specialy shoujo but I get easily bored form it since they all have the same key moment so I would recommend Manhwa (korean manga)
100% perfect Girl
Goong
Cat Street (that's a normal japanese manga, but authentic story with a good plot)
Fruit basket and full moon are a must read if you're into shoujo.

if you like shounen or just some action and adventure, i recommend HunterXHunter, naruto and bleach. but you have to be patient with them because there is just so many chapters to read. but when you get into them you'll love it.

I tend to read yaoi (....mangas about homosexual love. YAY!), so most of my expertise comes with that. >_>; (if anyone ones, I'll be pleased to help) but I also love slice of life and some seinen here and there~

Wakusei no Samidare / Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer, for instance. Old shounen cliched, turned into seinen world. What will you do when the princess and the knight who's supposed to save the world wants to destroy the world themselves?

TOTAL AWESOME.

I..gave a review too there. /blushes

As for authors, there's Asano Inio, who's making depressive, but totally realistic, cynical Japanese messed-up suburbans slice-of-life...

Usamaru Furuya, who's....pop modernism, surrealism, pop art blended into manga. Also the author of The Music of Marie, which's totally awesome.

Kaoru Mori's good too, especially if you like details and historical works.

And then...more. Aria, Yotsuba!&, and...flat.

yes, flat. Cuteness overload. Seriously. Cuteness overload.

It's a certain Manga that I feel interesting recently.
The name is " Maou"Thou shalt be mine, Yuusha." Yuusha"No way!" ".
(In Japanese, the name is "魔王「この我のものとなれ、勇者よ」勇者「断る!」" )
I can recommend this story.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkjJjtsUcDY"]YouTube - 【2ch】 Maou"Thou shalt be mine, Yuusha." Yuusha"No way!" #00[/ame]
Especially, the opening movie of the #10 is a masterpiece.

However, it's not easy to understand if you cannot read Japanese a bit.

-K-ON! is good for light entertainment.
-Kobato
-Clannad is very, very good.
-Gankutsuou (so sad)

kammy has gotten me into Princess Tutu.

Anything before 2003, anime and manga used to have stories not just archetype compendiums and fetish themes. I would suggest anything by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto or Satoshi Kon.
