[PAX] Astrology Q&A

I was wondering if someone wouldn't mind to read my chart and explain it in PM.

Peppermint and anyone else on INFJf who is interested in having their chart read

While I wouldn't mind doing this if you supplied me with your data, (and were really patient as it takes awhile and I can get pretty busy), the real purpose of this thread is to give you information and resources so you can learn and understand for yourself.

I realize that most of us are private and don't want our personal info necessarily revealed on a thread, at least with certain things, and general questions aren't going to get more than general answers. Astrology is very accurate when done correctly, but the vague oversimplifications that are promoted by non-specific horoscopes has led to its degradation. I also know that googling information doesn't always lead you to the most helpful answers, nor does it take into account the necessary synthesis required to understanding what the chart means as a whole.

If there's ever a question that anyone wishes to ask, but you think it may be inappropriate or too personal for this thread, feel free to pm me. Just realize that despite studying this subject for 15 years, I don't have all the answers, but I'm willing to help you seek out the answers to them.

What is the difference between the moon sign, sun sign, normal sign, stop sign and etc etc?

What is the difference between the moon sign, sun sign, normal sign, stop sign and etc etc?

Lol, I don't know about normal or stop signs...guess I don't have any in my chart. jk

But seriously, all the planets are in a particular sign when you are born.
Your sun sign is where the sun was at the time, the moon sign is where the moon was. Everyone has different signs in their chart besides the sun sign. Where was Mars when you were born? While it could be in the same sign as your sun, it more likely is not. This will affect how you use energy, aggression and sex, even more so if you have an emphasis on Aries in your chart.

If you took a picture of the sky view from earth on the second you were born, this would be what your natal chart would look like. The geometrical relationships that are formed by the celestial bodies in relation to one another creates the aspects which indicate the tendencies of our personalities. The signs and houses they are in can either strengthen or mitigate these possibilities.

SYNASTRY IN ASTROLOGY

Since the questions I get most often from people curious about astrology usually involve synastry, I wanted to post some information about this topic in particular.

Synastry is the art of relationship astrology. It is a fascinating and illuminating study of how individuals interact with one another.

Each individual is born with a personal birth chart, which is a map of the heavens for the moment they took their first breath. Some might say the birth chart has the effect of stamping, or imprinting, the energies of the planets and signs on an individual. Each and every one of us has all 10 planets and luminaries in our charts, but their positions by sign, house, and aspect are individual to each. When we interact with others, the individual energies of our natal charts form special relationships with their individual energies. The resulting interplay is as complex and unique as our own personalities.

Most people are familiar with the study of Sun Sign Compatibility. Some will ask, for example, "Does a Leo get along with a Scorpio?" While these comparisons have some value, they are very general. Many other factors are involved when evaluating the compatibility of two people.

While aspects from one planet to another in our own charts are indicative of our own personality, which planets are aspected in our charts in relation to another individual’s planets in their chart indicate how we are likely to connect with them within the context of the relationship.

In general, positive aspects make for easier relating, while negative aspects tend to be stressful and require more work. But negative aspects can often be exciting, while positive ones can become dull.

Romantic attraction is often indicated when the Ascendant of one person conjuncts or opposes another person's Sun, Moon, Venus, or Mars. Most potent when it comes to attraction are interplays between personal planets that are yin and yang (feminine and masculine), as these can arouse much intrigue. If we consider the Ascendant to be yang energy, and exclude the neutral (unisex) personal planet Mercury, then we have the following interplays:

Sun-Moon
Sun-Venus
Moon-Mars
Moon-Ascendant
Venus-Mars
Venus-Ascendant

Yang-yang and yin-yin interplays between personal planets and Ascendants certainly play a role in attraction as well. However, the yin-yang interplays tend to be more intriguing and "romantic". Of the planetary pairs in the list above, Sun-Venus seems to be the least sexual and romantic (it generally inspires a strong affection).

Sun/Moon midpoint

One of my favorite techniques in determining compatibility is the use of the Sun/Moon midpoint. It is a mathematical point--the point midway (or exactly halfway) between the Sun and the Moon. It is a highly sensitive and personal point that I simply never ignore in any relationship analysis; where the influence of the two planets involved combine together.

With midpoint work, it is customary to consider only the following aspects: conjunction (0), opposition (180), square (90), semi-square (45), and sesquiquadrate (135). An orb of three degrees is allowed.

In synastry, the Sun/Moon midpoint is very often activated by the other person's personal planet in significant relationships. The Sun/Moon midpoint represents a point of "inner marriage" and symbolizes close personal relationship. If another person's Sun or Moon forms an aspect such as the ones referred to above, that person represents some kind of promise of integration to the Sun/Moon midpoint owner. Whether or not integration actually happens, this synastry connection offers a promise which can be difficult to resist. Therefore, it is a strong indicator of attraction. In my own experience, if this aspect is not present, this “marriage” is not promised and will not occur. Some extenuating circumstance seems to prevent it. But just because it is present does not mean that it will happen, or that it will last if it does occur. Free will is the determining factor.

When working with midpoints, the best technique to use is to first convert the positions of the planets to the 360 degree zodiac. You can round off the positions of the Sun and Moon to the nearest degree in order to simplify the calculation.

The following list will help you convert the degrees of the zodiac (0-29 degrees for each sign) into 360 degree format:

Aries 0-29

Taurus 30-59

Gemini 60-89

Cancer 90-119

Leo 120-149

Virgo 150-179

Libra 180-209

Scorpio 210-239

Sagittarius 240-269

Capricorn 270-299

Aquarius 300-329

Pisces 330-359

Example:

My husband’s Sun is at 1 degree of Sagittarius (241) and his Moon is at 17 degrees of Scorpio (227).
Add the zodiac conversion numbers and divide by two. 241+227=468/2=234
Then convert this figure to the previous format. 234=24 degrees Scorpio.

His Sun/Moon midpoint is therefore at 24 degrees of Scorpio.

My Sun is at 21 degrees of Taurus (51) and my Moon is at 29 degrees of Capricorn (299).
Add the zodiac conversion numbers together and divide by two. 51+299=350/2=175.
Then convert this figure to the previous format. 175=25 degrees of Virgo.

But, because in this example the Sun and Moon are more than 180 degrees away when we travel through the zodiac in logical order, common practice is to convert the midpoint to 25 degrees Pisces (the opposite point of 25 degrees Virgo), simply because it is the closer midpoint between the Sun and the Moon. This is not highly significant in midpoint work, simply because oppositions and conjunctions are not considered to be much different when we deal with midpoints.

My Sun/Moon midpoint is therefore at 25 degrees of Pisces.

In this instance, my husband’s Sun/Moon midpoint is within three degrees of an opposition to my Sun sign, and we obviously did get married. Every couple's chart I have done who ever did get married has this midpoint aspect. Not every couple who has this does get married, though. But no couple who did not have this aspect got married. I found this to be a very useful astrological technique when comparing natal charts to determine compatibility.

Orb allowance does tend to vary greatly, from one practitioner to another. While I do find orbs to be useful and necessary, I don't really have set limits.

For example, some software auto-sets limits for squares at only 6 degrees, which completely cuts off my Venus/Saturn square, which affects my chart a great deal. Or a tight square formed by outer planets gets more emphasis even though there are no aspects to other planets, making it simply a generational effect. Some planets are simply a more powerful driving force than others, and I modify my orbs accordingly. I find it irritating when some astrologers claim that 10 or 12 degrees is acceptable. I don't see how they can support that.

Also, I do agree that the inconjunct is important, especially to people with a yod. I limit mine to 3 degrees, but as it's a less common configuration, I haven't had it come up very often.

For those who may be interested, The inconjunct or quincunx aspect in astrology is formed between planets that are roughly 150 degrees apart. Unless it's an out-of-sign quincunx, the signs not only are of a different element, they are also of a different modality. it can be difficult to merge the energies of the planets involved. But the difference here is that there is a sense that the two cannot be merged, and this is where compartmentalization comes into play. The areas of life described by the planets tend to conflict with each other which is why the inconjunct is associated with adjustment. Both planets/points represent distinct needs and areas of life, and it can take a lot of energy to sort them into different compartments.

Yup, quinqunx are very important, and are one of the hardest aspects to deal with. Luckly, they're rare. Although, I am super lucky and have 5 of them, and 2 yods! lol.

It's also known as a "see-saw" aspect. Because the individual must go back and forth repeadadly inorder to work with the aspect. It's really the only way to "balance it".

Also to sum up the synastry thing: If you really want to know your astrological compatabillity with someone (in particular in the ways of romance) this is the best way to look at it.

@IndigoSensor

...5?! You had better be a multi-task-master! And 2 yods? Are they at least involving the same signs? Or are they all working at cross-purposes? *shudder*

I'm very interested in yods, and don't know much about them. I mean, I know what they are, but their interpretation eludes me (other than the obvious difficulty in synthesizing quincunxed energies, and the finger pointing the way to synthesis). Any deeper understanding you have on this topic that you are willing to share would be appreciated.

Do you also have the see-saw chart pattern then? Those are quite rare as well. (And your yods wouldn't be pointing in opposite directions then, at least, lol.)

I have to go to bed, but I'll just link my chart in since I don't got time to explain it at the moment. My memory of yods and inconjuncts is a bit rusty, but I can ask my mom to clarifiy for me and get back to you :)

I have my cut-off at 2. However you cut off quincunx by 3, and if that's the case I actually have seven, lol. Whenever an astrologer looks at my chart it's one of the first things that stand out to them. My major yod is an exact yod (no orb between all 3 planets), is pluto/saturn-jupiter

Did a little more research on quincunxes and yods.

While some practitioners use the 3 degree orb I had previously posted, others say it should only be two. The reason given was that it would intrude into the orb space of biquintiles(144) and triseptiles (154). While I have never used these very minor aspects, the reasoning made sense to me, so I'm going to agree with your previous statement recommending only two degree orbs for inconjuncts.

As far as your chart goes, definite seesaw pattern. But yeah, those yods do jump out at you, lol. It seems as though your emotions, stability and practicality are at odds with your mind. Makes me wonder if this isn't manifesting as your anxiety attacks. (How do you feel when the moon transits your Jupiter and sets it off?) The only things I can add about these inconjuncts are probably things you've already heard...trapped into thinking you're the only one who can do something, overextending yourself and getting taken advantage of, but still realizing deep down that you're here to help others increase their assets (it looks like in the way of knowledge to me), and knowing that by bringing compassion and intuition into all you do will bring you the most success and satisfaction.

Thanks for the offer of the yod help. I'm curious to know more about them than the vague generalities I get on google. :)

The Seven Different Chart Patterns

This technique indicates a basic personality type based on where your planets are located.

The Seven Different Chart Patterns

The Splash chart
has the planets spread throughout the twelve sections or houses. People with splash charts are here to make a big "splash". They have many interests and capabilities in a wide variety of topics and may be proficient in a number of areas, but may also scatter their energy.

The Splay chart is similar to the Splash except there is at least one group of three of more planets in one sign. People with splay charts are individuals who have to do it their own way. They may have varied interests and talents but they have to make their own rules in life.

The Bundle chart has all the planets grouped together in a few consecutive signs, the rarest of all seven types. These people are specialists; narrowly focused and expert in or devoted to one particular area of life.

The Locomotive chart is easy to spot. The planets are spread over a large number of consecutive signs. The locomotive planet leads the others in a clockwise direction and is often dominant. People with Locomotive charts typically attack problems head-on with great drive and have many resources.

The Bowl chart has all ten planets in six consecutive signs. A Bowl type of person is thoughtful and self-contained, given to learning from experiences. The type of personality depends on the position of the Bowl. If the Bowl is fully contained in one of the four halves, the person

An Overview of Decanate Descriptions

Here are some general delineations for each of the 36 decanates as outlined in the previous post:

ARIES
1st Decan: Ruled by Mars, you are first in the Zodiac, first among Aries, the leaders' leader. You are forceful, decisive, and inspirational, with a crusader's zeal and a head full of world-changing ideas. Sexually arousing, unstoppable, a double-daring lover, mover and shaker.
2nd Decan: Influenced by the Sun, you are a radiant presence with extraordinary charisma. The mix of Aries drive and added star quality is potent; you never want for admirers. You are a brilliant motivator but may prefer solo success, with your name up in lights! You have all it takes to be a success in the world of show business and top level sport.
3rd Decan: Influenced by Jupiter, you're a true individualist. Aries dynamism combines with a strong moral sense: you might be a preacher, politician, healer, hell raiser or saint. You stir others profoundly. Lovers must learn to share you with your other worldly passions.

TAURUS
1st Decan: Ruled by Venus, you are a rock-solid Taurus - patient, persevering, the truest of friends and most constant of lovers. The beauties of nature and comforts of home nourish your soul. You are deeply centered with a rare devotion - to loved-ones, work, interests and beliefs.
2nd Decan: Influenced by Mercury, you are blessed with a rare artistic sensibility. To typical Taurus earthiness is added a perfectionist streak, the highest ideals and finely tuned perceptions. You are a patient and caring but complex lover, at once dependable and slightly enigmatic. Imagination and money sense can make you a top tycoon.
3rd Decan: Influenced by Saturn, you are endowed with super-staying-power and self-discipline to take you wherever you want to go, and you naturally command respect. You enjoy success in the home, too, forming close and happy relationships that can last for a lifetime.

GEMINI
1st Decan: Ruled by Mercury, you are a quick-silver personality, changeful, very versatile and intriguing. Resourceful, you tend to live on your wits. Being multi-faceted, you may find success in many fields. A hard-to-pin-down lover, but so passionate, inventive, basically kind, though scheming at times.
2nd Decan: Influenced by Venus, you combine a lively mind and rapier wit with a gentler side that gains you popularity and assures success in any work with people. You have a rare gift for self-expression and a talent for attracting love, desire and lifelong devotion. You are sensuous, take your time with lovemaking and do understand your partner.
3rd Decan: Influenced by Uranus, you live as if each day were your first, seeing with new eyes, tasting new tastes, dreaming new dreams. You are absolutely your own person and thrive alone, but make a magical lover for a partner prepared to give you space and listen to you.

CANCER
1st Decan: Ruled by the Moon and driven by emotions and intuition, you are a tender, responsive and essentially caring being who inspires love and trust in return. Dedication to work and a retentive memory are the building blocks of material success. Home is where your heart is.
2nd Decan: Influenced by Pluto, you are desiring and mysterious, intimate and intense. You are dynamic, persevering and more self-reliant than other Cancerians, but with no less need for a soul mate, security and touch. You shine in creative endeavours and have keen insight. People tend to fall instantly in love with you and you can get a little love greedy!
3rd Decan: Influenced by Neptune, you are gently, deeply feeling and sympathetic. You need to be loved and, still more, to give love. You have a talent for creating beauty that could be the basis of a career. You can read a partner's fantasies and this makes you sexually beguiling.

LEO
1st Decan: Ruled by the Sun, you are a magnetic force, fun to be with, sometimes fearsome but always sought after. You have a lion-sized ego, but a lion-sized heart, too. You are a warm, loyal lover and a generous forgiving friend. In work and play all the world is your stage - success keeps on growing.
2nd Decan: Influenced by Jupiter, you have heightened ideals and sense of life purpose, combined with a great sense of fun. Brave, kind and hugely optimistic, you storm to success, making friends along the way. You are a straightforward but super-sexy love-mate. As Jupiter increases your supplies of pure luck, you have a golden touch in contests.
3rd Decan: Influenced by Mars, you are a dynamite mix of go-getting ambition, enterprise, grace and romanticism. You're an original thinker, a demanding but demonstrative lover, true friend and a born entrepreneur. You love luxury but adversity brings out the best in you.

VIRGO
1st Decan: Ruled by Mercury, you live by the very highest standards and demand the same of others. Logical, intelligent, with a great memory, you learn fast, work hard and can forge a brilliant career. A lively and intuitive partner, you raise love-making to an art form for your lucky lover.
2nd Decan: Influenced by Saturn, you are sterner and more ambitious than other Virgos, with a talent for organization and high earning power. Your understanding of people and the world make for business success. You are a steadfast, sensitive and resourceful lover. But a cheating partner may never get a whisper of a second chance with you.
3rd Decan: Influenced by Venus, you are less aspiring than most Virgos, happier in your being with a warm, affectionate nature. Home is your sanctuary, a place of real beauty. Your love-style is sensuous and satisfying, and you are a patient, caring, understanding life partner.

LIBRA
1st Decan: Ruled by Venus, you have a soul-deep need for true harmony, real companionship and beauty. You are a staunch and generous friend. Your social skills and gift for self-expression take you far in your career. For you, sex and love are one and indivisible, and you're very romantic.
2nd Decan: Influenced by Uranus, you are cooler, more independent and candid than is typical in a Libran - driven more by logic, less by love-hunger. You are a free spirit, sexy, popular and outgoing. Your gift for self-expression and original thinking can make for real wealth. You have a natural link with future technology, plus genius ideas and the ability to sell them.
3rd Decan: Influenced by Mercury, you are lively, versatile, chatty, witty, eternally youthful with a touch of the 'wild child' about you. You thrive in the world of communications and attract many friends. Like all Librans, you love love (making it and feeling it) and have exciting fantasies to share.

SCORPIO
1st Decan: Ruled by Pluto, you are an irresistible force who mixes passion and compassion, magnetism, insights, intimacy and ambition. Sheer single-mindedness assures that you're a winner in love and in work. Your feelings are complex but utterly genuine.
2nd Decan: Influenced by Neptune, you're driven but your moderating streak of charity and self-sacrifice means that seek job satisfaction above prestige. Arousing and mysterious, empathetic, and faith-inspiring - you make a wonderful lover and life-partner. You have so many sexual fantasies to share with your lucky partner.
3rd Decan: Influenced by the Moon, with an aura of enchantment, you are caring, abiding and more domesticated that other Scorpios. Canny, subtle, adaptable, with stunning powers of concentration, you charm your way to worldly success - and into a lover's heart.

SAGITTARIUS
1st Decan: Ruled by Jupiter you are blessed with super-optimism, courage and a sense of fun, balanced by an earnest love of learning. In work, you crave freedom and you go far (often literally, travelling the world). You are a stimulating, fun-to-be-with, wonderfully unconventional lover.
2nd Decan: Influenced by Mars you have an extra zest for life and a compulsion to translate thought into action. A strong will combines with a generous nature, to make you a great but demanding friend or lover. Work must challenge you mentally and physically. And, of course, your passion power is red-hot throughout your life - and so is your stamina level.
3rd Decan: Influenced by the Sun you have a much heightened sense of drama and ambition, a double dose of optimism and a strong, magnetic presence. Life, love and work are all big adventures, and you crave the reward of recognition, not just wealth. And loyalty matters, too.

CAPRICORN
1st Decan: Ruled by Saturn you will work double hard for twice the time, just to achieve your heart's desires:- material success, security and a close abiding relationship with a devoted soul mate. You are a strong, resourceful leader and a patient, thoughtful and beautifully serious lover.
2nd Decan: Influenced by Venus you have the eye - but not the volatile unruly temperament - of an artist. You work hard for success and lavish the rewards on your home, creating a place of beauty and a safe haven for one true mate. Sensual and loyal, you're a great lover, too, and sex with you just gets better and better - once you've found your soul mate.
3rd Decan: Influenced by Mercury you live by a very strict code, seek perfection at its highest and have a fine brain for facts and figures. But you're sensitive, too, and gentle - with a healing touch, a subtle and beguiling sexual style, and a keen understanding of others' needs and emotions.

AQUARIUS
1st Decan: Ruled by Uranus you are the most free of free spirits, utterly taken up with life, humanity and the world. You shine at problem-solving, see money only as a means to an end. You make a spectacular lover for a partner as broadminded and freedom-respecting as yourself.
2nd Decan: Influenced by Mercury you are quick, mobile, eloquent, versatile and flexible in matters of work and the heart. You have charm and sex appeal aplenty, a spacious view of the world and are an exhilarating - if challenging - lover. Your ability to talk about fantasies makes your own bedtime stories completely irresistible.
3rd Decan: Influenced by Venus you are less cerebral, less objective and more involved and still-centered than the pure Aquarian. Peace, calm and friendship sustain you. You are doubly idealistic, adoring, forgiving, a gentle lover with an artist's soul and you excel at creative endeavors.

PISCES
1st Decan: Ruled by Neptune you are an intriguing being, at once unassuming and inspirational, a romantic who gives with both hands. You are wise and profound, an attuned lover and adaptable mate. Work with people or animals suits you. Love, not money, is the be-all for you.
2nd Decan: Influenced by the Moon you are gentle and nurturing with a double capacity for kindness. You have a soul-deep response to beauty and an artistic talent that can earn a fortune - although you can create a lovely home on a shoestring. As a lover you are sweet, devoted and aware, with a talent for inventing and then fulfilling intriguing fantasies.
3rd Decan: Influenced by Pluto you are atypically shrewd and intense, spookily intuitive, powerfully passionate and phenomenally smart at work. And you're sexually magnetic! You are a loyal lover and dynamic worker who can seemingly spin flax into gold time after time.

dream echo;
I had a friend who was really into astrology who did a natal chart for me. I have sun sign in pisces, moon in cancer and rising in scorpio. Is it strange to have all three in water? I find it interesting because my people come from the coast of Washington State. I have looked but haven't seen anything about being so strong in one element. I don't have my full natal on hand to show you. I was just curious.

@Sonyab

It is fairly unusual to have all three in one element. (I'd be curious to know if they aspect one another.) Then again, I've known people who had sun, moon and ascendant all in the same sign, and then some other planets as well!

Generally speaking, someone who has a dominance of water in their natal chart is very creative, empathetic, emotional and intuitive; basically a person with hidden depths. Too much water can indicate oversensitivity to surroundings and other people, but I think you have likely learned to overcome that. Both Cancer and Scorpio learn how to protect themselves early on.

And because you have so much water, another element is likely low or non-existent. It seems you are here to be a nurturer; to learn to be part of a greater whole, and by understanding others, better understand yourself.

Emphasis And Deficits in Elements

Sonyab brought up a good question in her post concerning an emphasis in a particular element in a natal chart. Some individuals do have a preponderance of an element in their chart, while others are completely lacking in an element. Others have a balance. When these elements are translated as personality traits or temperament, they become important features of the delineation.
Following are brief readings of each of the four elements and delineations of a situation when one's chart contains two of the elements having similar strength. Just as it is important to observe the element that is strongest in the chart, it is also important to note the element, if any, that is not significantly represented in the horoscope.
For the few who have a balance in elements, the concepts of elements should be considered balanced. That is, they tend to reflect common sense (earth), action orientation (fire), thinking and communication skills (air), and the ability to feel and intuitively know (water) in reasonable proportion and don't rely overly on any of these traits at the expense of another.
Another theory to consider is that some people who have a deficit in or completely lack a particular element may overcompensate for this by projecting these qualities.

A Preponderance of the FIRE element

A preponderance of Fire signs planets exemplifies high spirits, great faith in self, enthusiasm, and direct honesty. Your fire sign nature projects a radiant, vitalizing energy that seems to glow with warmth and exuberance. You need a good deal of freedom to express yourself naturally, and you will usually display a fairly unrelenting insistence on your own point of view. You put all of yourself in whatever you do. You are intensely assertive, individualistic, active and self-expressive. Fire sign energies stimulate people who are more lethargic, but often your energies overpower or exhaust the more retiring or more sensitive type. Good natured and fun-loving, you have many friends and you are generous with your time, energy, and resources. You place a far greater value on having a good time than on material possessions. For all the natural generosity displayed by the fire signs, they are also famous for the big egos they frequently demonstrate. You may believe so strongly in your own powers and abilities that you overlook and frequently fail to take advantage of the talents and abilities of others. You try to do it all yourself and don't delegate well. Despite this damaging flaw in your managerial ability, you belong to a group that is the most daring and capable inspiring in a management sense; the natural leaders. In battle, sports or business, it is usually the fire signs out front leading the charge. You are the type of leader that is very independent and individualistic, rarely consulting with others for advice. You are constantly out front or "on stage" and you need to be recognized and admired for your attainment and accomplishments. Appreciation is more important than money in your estimation. Nothing hurts more than being ignored. The fire sign sense of honesty is straightforward and often child-like. Thus, you believe everyone is, like yourself, an open book. You may be somewhat gullible and naive.

Fire and Earth type

When the elements of Fire and Earth combine, the result is potentially powerful and creative. Fire provides action and Earth looks for tangible results. The Earth elements give sustaining power to the drive from self-expression symbolized by the Fire elements. The rapid-fire inspirations of Fire are grounded by the Earth so that energies can be conserved and focused. A problem with this combination is a degree of insensitivity that is usually present. When moving toward a goal there is little concern for anything or anyone that gets in your way. You may need to cultivate attention to ideals and your own inner life. In any event, the key words for the elements in your chart are steadiness, reliability, and productivity.

Fire and Air Type

With the planets in your chart concentrated in Fire and Air you are idealistic, aspiring, and positive-thinking. You have the best of intentions and motives, but your approach to life may not be completely realistic. You have the ability to put your ideas into action, but you may neglect your emotional and material or physical needs. You probably have a keen sense of humor and a very effective way with words. At its best this is a very creative combination. The problem is getting things done as you are a person that is not well grounded in the persistent traits normally required to see the job through to completion. As full of ideas and enthusiasm as you are, energies may be scattered, and you must realize that you can't just pour out your energies unreservedly without simultaneously tuning in on your deeper resources if you're to avoid a state of constant depletion.

Fire and Water Type

The heavy emphasis on Fire and Water elements in your chart would indicate a general tendency to express everything emotionally, excitedly, and rather impulsively. There is often a lack of logical, systematic thought and procedure, with a resulting restlessness and subjective bias. This combination has intensity, emotional extremes, and surprising sensitivity to what others think of them. You are a "whole-hogger," having a marked lack of self-restraint. You may experience big swings in moods. You function in a high-pressure state, and you do best when being challenged.

Fire Absence

The limited presence of the Fire element in your horoscope may suggest the need to experience life more actively. It may benefit you to become more vital, for you may lack the passion and spark that the fire signs afford. This doesn't mean that you don't enjoy life, but merely that you don't seem to know how to insert yourself into the action; pleasure, thrills and glory will be slow coming your way. Your pleasures are apt to be more subtle and sensitive, without the dramatics and flash. Although this void does not guarantee an introvert, you are not likely to be the extrovert. You lack the dare-devil courage of the fire signs, and this includes the utter self-confidence these signs bestow. Because of this, you may like to stand back and let the other person make the first move in an encounter. If anything, you underestimate your abilities and worth. You like to test the water before you jump in, and the fire of competition can hold you back sometimes. By underrating your abilities, you are apt to often end up assisting others whose talents are less than your own, but whose reflection drive and desire is greater. Actually, you don't like having the spotlight on you, and you may prefer such a subordinate role. Self-expression, both emotional and creative, may be difficult for you. In some cases, a person lacking fire in their chart may try to force self-expression and many of the more aggressive fire sign traits in order to compensate for the lack of these traits. Characteristic of this would be the less than talented, over-achiever in a sport who attains a modest level of skill and the ability to win through extreme hard work and long years of perseverance.

A Preponderance of the EARTH element

The heavy concentration of the Earth element in your horoscope suggests that you are cautious, premeditative, conventional, and dependable. You are the type of person who lives by a practical, common sense code; stable, and concerned with physical well-being rather than spiritual attainment. You are quite responsible, if a bit rigid, methodical and detail-conscious. The term "down to earth" may suit you quite well. It might be said that you are one of those people who is very well adjusted to life on this planet. A concern for the physical or material world makes you very much the realist. You are an organizer, a builder, and a hard-worker. The earth sign traits provide you with the skills and attitude necessary to succeed readily in the world of business. So pragmatic, you don't often gamble or take unnecessary chances. You understand the reality of a situation and you understand value, both in a material and in a human sense. Your approach to people is much the same as your approach to life. You are reliable and steadfast. You are predictable and you don't like surprises. Dependability, diligence and a pragmatic, no-nonsense approach to life are your greatest strengths. Lack of ideas or imagination, dullness, rigid conservatism, extreme materialism, and blind adherence to rules and regulations are your potential faults.

Earth and Air Type

The heavy concentration of the combination of Earth and Air in your horoscope can indicate an alternating pull between the abstract-conceptual and the more mundane practical-efficiency orientations. Properly focused, this blending allows combining intellectual and conceptual awareness with a practical sense of harmony and concrete objectives. In other words, you are a thinker and you possess some common sense; a good combination. There is a fairly dry, detached sort of logic that allows you to deal with a volume of facts or figures without getting overwhelmed with the detail. Stress never bothers you much. Emotionalism is never a problem either.

Earth and Water Type

A lot of earth and water often produces persons displaying much depth, seriousness, and a strong sense of self-protectiveness in all activities. You are apt to be a hard worker, for earth/water types don't seem to be happy unless they have some burden, either emotionally or in everyday work. These placements are very conscious of survival needs, and other issues of security, and others' reliance on their solidity and resources. Therefore, much of your energy is used in an effort to maintain or obtain resources, and there is great attachment to money, possessions, job, children, and other security factors. You have endurance and an ability to survive through any calamity. Your attachment to security and to rather traditional values is often manifested in a strong adherence to family, home, and community responsibility. The negative side of earth/water types is becoming too attached to the past and rather fearful of the present and the future. Positive thinking and forming ideals may be your challenge.

Earth Absence

The limited presence of the Earth element in your horoscope suggests that you may have some difficulties dealing with practical and mundane issues; in fact it may be said that you are not really at home on the planet Earth. You may seem to be somehow lost in space and unable to get your feet on the ground. Because of this you may reject responsibility and have trouble getting organized and following through on a task. There frequently is shown a childish inability to handle mundane tasks, and you may be one of those people who needs help to accomplish the simplest fix-up chore. Material matter and money may be secondary concerns, and you may not be particularly interested earthly possessions and material gain. Sometimes persons with an absence of Earth compensate by expressing a compulsive trait toward neatness and detail, and a forced concern for organization. More often, the absence of earth signs means good old fashioned common sense may not be your strong suit.

A Preponderance of the AIR element

The preponderance of Air signs suggest a strong emphasis on thought, ideas and intellectual pursuits of one sort or another. There is a detachment and a sense of objectivity associated with such a heavy influence in the element of Air. Air signs communicate and express ideas with mental agility. Your Air signs may not, however, always get the job done, and you need to be sure ideas are grounded in reality and put to practical use. You are probably more concerned with theory than with application. Often, individuals having a heavy amounts of Air signs become the impractical dreamers, constantly thinking, but not always following through as well as others. Rational and logical, you analyze situations fully, thinking them through and planning carefully before you act. While you may ponder and vacillate, you rarely make foolish mistakes. Detached and not overly emotional, you are almost always objective and fair-minded. You are people-oriented, but more inclined toward the group than the individual. Your interests are varied, and you're apt to be a life-long student.

Air and Water Type

Although you often feel pulled between intellectual and emotional orientations of life, heavy doses of Air and Water elements can make you very much attuned to both realms of experience. Neither the abstract nor the feeling-intuitive world is alien to you, and you are thus able to develop a mode of operation that encompasses both types of perception. This results in your being able to give depth to your ideas and in your ability to gain detachment and perspective on feelings and deeper yearnings. You are physically and psychologically sensitive; a dreamer, an escapist, perhaps a little fantasy-prone. You have an amazingly fertile imagination and specialized skills for dealing with people. You know how to tune in to people, and communicate concisely.

Air Absence

The limited amount of the Air element in your horoscope suggests a need to learn adaptability and the use of the mental functions in a creative manner. You don't emphasize mental activity in your daily life. This is not to say that you aren't intelligent, but just that you don't place a lot of value on the world of ideas and education's for education sake. Often, a shortage of Air signs signifies an inability to communicate effectively or clearly; you may be somewhat enigmatic and obscure. Sometimes there is a self-consciousness associated with such circumstances, and you may over-compensate by working hard to improve such inclinations. You probably don't enjoy learning unless what you're studying has an immediate and tangible end. A strength of the air-weak chart is generally the enhanced ability to communicate emotionally, physically or psychically. It may be hard for you to stand back, and clearly view an issue in an objective manner. Thus, there is a tendency to have some trouble in the task of planning ahead. You may find yourself wasting a lot of energy on this account. You must make a special effort to communicate clearly and plan very carefully or your advancement will come only through costly trial and error.

A Preponderance of the WATER element

A heavy emphasis of Water element signs puts you closely in touch with your feelings and in tune with the nuances and subtleties in your environment that others won't even notice. You approach life and understand it through your emotions, and you're really at your best when you "play your hunches." You don't intellectualize about things; you respond exactly how you feel. Water sign people are very attuned to their feelings. An intense sensitivity permits you to experience the heights of emotional bliss, but it can also take you to the depth of despair. Close emotional relationships are essential to your well-being and happiness. Superficial affairs are few, and less than satisfying. Romantic, sentimental, and affectionate, there must be a stable and secure bond between you and your partner. When you are happily situated in such a bond, you can be a very nurturing type. You can be "smothering" toward your children, and very possessive of your mate. You are not one who can subscribe to the code "live and let live." You communicate best in non-verbal ways; emotionally, psychically, or through forms as art, dance, music, poetry and photography. You have a natural feel and sense for the arts. You're apt to let the heart rule the head. Highly impractical and impressionable, you sometimes use bad judgment for you are unable to be objective and evaluate situations impersonally. You may change your mind as often as your moods change, but rarely do the facts sway your beliefs.

Water Absence

The absence or limitation of Water signs in your horoscope suggests that you may have difficulty understanding the deeper meanings of events and circumstances. Indeed, you may be a little lacking in emotional intensity. This is not to say that you have no feelings, but it does mean that your emotions are not easily engaged and they really don't run deep. You aren't so apt to form those extremely close friendships and relationships, and you may even feel smothered and threatened by strong emotional demands of others. You recover quickly from emotional bumps and scrapes, never letting your disappointments get you down. Depression is never apt to be a problem. Many of the aspects of not having water signs are positive, but on the negative side, you must guard against becoming rather callous and cold, detached and unfeeling. Intuitive skills are not readily available to those with few planets in Water signs. In your view this does not matter so much, because you don't trust intuitive knowledge anyway.

Hmm...well, if you consider that water is a very changeable element; moving from liquid to solid to gas and back again, that does make sense.

And Pisces is a mutable sign, adding to that flexible nature; like the representative fish that swim in opposing directions, being of two minds, so to speak.

Yes, I am also very Pisces in nature as well. I relate to many of the traits associated with sign.

I know that I am not supposed to believe in such things being an INTJ and all...

I need more fire in my life.

I don't think of astrology as a belief, though there are those that do. Some say that in order to practice it, you must have faith in it.

That makes it sound like a religion to me, and I disagree.

I think that the practice of astrology merely requires suspension of disbelief, as used in order to prove or disprove a theory. Having a mind that is open to possibilities need not require faith, just an acceptance of what may be possible.
