oh yeah np, and yeah i am all over the place in terms of music, there's just so many talented artists out there to stick to one genre for me. if its new2 me sometimes i have to warm up to it and then some artists just hit me hard and i know instantly i'm going to have to have more of their stuff. you ever get this? it was like this for me when i heard ludo and yiruma, also massive attack, adele the white stripes, there's just something about what these artists are saying that grabs my attention almost immediately.
i am a big fan of what i've heard of adam lambert! such an amazing entertainer, his voice is truly unreal, and on top of the vocal power hes got an entertainers brain to boot, so amazing live (i saw him on jay leno) really impressive. lady gaga also btw, i don't really know what style she is considered, i just know everything i've heard from her i've enjoyed. is she considered r and b?
hm well i don't want to take up all your visitor message space with this msg so as far as bands im into i'll just mention some staples for me. tool's the biggest one, probably pink floyd, coldplay, rush, 311 soad. the list could go on from here, these are just bands that i grew up listening to and really withstood the test of time as i still listen to them, but im always looking for new stuff and sometimes ill forget about them for awhile.
you know when i think about bands that i grew up with i can't help but think about how much they probably still impact my perception of music even today. like my lead singer grew up listening to bon jovi, and i can really see that influence in his writing, while my guitarist grew up listening to dream theatre (very technical) and then of course my bass player who grew up in the 80's and never left loves like motley crue and danger danger, stuff like this and he has written some lyrics also which totally resemble that genre. so i wonder if we are forever locked into these bands in a sense, i hope not but i see it everywhere. was there any influential music for you growing up? i mean like that first real band that you listened to the cd (or cassette) like over and over and couldn't get enough of, and do you still listen to it or think that it influences your current taste in music at all?
yep i hear you, radio is great once in awhile but popular stations just play same stuff over :1 this is why i try to switch it up, ive got like classic rock on one station, jazz/blues on another, then popular rock on another, though i'm getting pretty sick of this post grunge ara, its time for something new, and i do enjoy some indie, its been my saving grace in terms of different/popular radio music lately. ever listen to circa survive? they're like my fav right now, kinda sad but intriguing.
oh hey i found a site to dl utube vids its called vidtomp3.com if you ever want to. i've pretty much had ludo and yiruma on repeat ever since last night lol. you know there's definitley a difference in styles there, and i find yiruma a bit more uplifintng by just as enjoyable.
yep i did check out the instrumental thread, actually i posted one of my fav composers on there jeremy soule. he does strictly v game music, and usually orchestral. its like he packs ridiculous amounts of dynamics into 2 min, really entertaining.
well i'm off to a gig, bizzeh weekend, but what are some radio artists you enjoy?

as far as susana goes i only got a chance to listen to one of her tunes velocity of love which was a bad recording so its hard to say but i'm gonna go back to that tonight as i gotta head out here shortly.
yeah you know since we were talking about how to discover these artists i htink that it has to do with my friends who all listen to the radio lol. i mean i do too but i also get bored of the same pretty quickly so i gotta move on to something new and they seem pretty content with what's familiar. but i'm really glad to have found ludovic and yiruma. you have any orechestral favorites? i just recently found some moving pieces by some cmoposers i hadn't heard of before and up until now that was pretty much my only source of instrumental music.
yeah i couldn't agree more, balance is key. as far as love is a mystery i hear what you're saying, couldn't get into it either though i blamed it on the strings who really knows could be melody.
as far as more songs or other artists, i'd be open to suggestion on either or, if you've got some. it's safe to say since i've joined these forums the amount of exposure i've had to different types of music is twice fold what i probably would've found on my own and i'm always up for something new, tho i gotta ask; how you do you find music as diverse and melodic as ludovico? i've racked up my fair share of directionless youtube hours but never came up with an artist as intriguing as him.
Stella del mattino was brilliant. i was reading some of the youtube comments and one person really hit the nail on the head when he said that melodies are more powerful than technique. i cant help but agree, and i think its why i'm drawn to music like this. its funny bc i just posted a video trying to explain this and then i find this guy lol.
in terms of strings i enjoyed primavera but have you heard love is a mystery? i felt the strings were unbalanced and actually took away from the song in that one. i think there's just soemthing about ludovic by himself, more intimate maybe? dunno thinking out loud here, but i find myself hoping that i can find more solo acts vs strings, though i did like primavera.
wow i am quite impressed with him, i've never heard a pianist seem to create such emotional music like this with nothing else. i'm actually listening to oltremare right now, any particular song's you'd suggest? there's quite a few on youtube, i'm going to see if i can dl them without the video.
