Just out of curiosity, wondering how many here are good with binary numbers. Personally, I find it cumbersome as hell, but I love it! Why just write a "10" when you can write 1010?! Oh and when you get lost, counting from right to left rocks! :D

Honestly, I like it because it's more about patterns and repetitions than it is about actual mathematics. I've even managed to get some Math majors lost when trying to count or add in binary :)

Never had use for hex in everyday life. Suppose I could say I have "6c" friends on Facebook, if I needed to come up with a number though :)
 
I find negabinary (base negative 2) numbers more interesting.

1 = 1
10 = -2
11 = -1
100 = 4
101 = 5
110 = 2
111 = 3
1000 = -8
1001 = -7
1010 = -10
1100 = -4
1110 = -6
1111 = -5
10000 = 16
10001 = 17
10010 = 14
10011 = 15
10100 = 20
10101 = 21
10110 = 18
10111 = 19
11000 = 8
11001 = 9
11010 = 6
11011 = 7
11100 = 12
11101 = 13
11111= 11
etc

I was introduced to these in my math minor at the Governor's Honors Program, which I attended with as a Latin Major in the summer between junior and senior year of high school.
 
I like all numbers because no matter how confusing any concept may seem at first, it is constant (or changing in a predictable though complex fashion.) They're predictable, and not up for interpretation as to their meaning. I used to like Binary more, but I haven't done a lot with any numbers lately. I always go back to my random algebraic equations though :) Make something up...ie: 3x/12-4=73 then solve for it (and x almost always ends up being a number with several places after the decimal point. (of course now I pick one with a nice round answer!)
