8.9 Earthquake Strikes Japan..Tsunami warnings..

THIS, is the reason why I don't feel guilty for dehumanizing stupid people.

This people are scum, fucktards. Excuse my language, but when this people are so inhumane and uncaring, about a terrible disaster...it's just amazing, the ignorance of so many people. I have no words to describe it, you can group this people with westboro.

I agree with you RL... Some people's ignorance never ceases to amaze.

Hitler is a human who killed a lot of people unfairly.
Does this means all humans deserve to be tortured?

*sips tea* You can't change stupidity, leave them.

Spend the energy praying for the Japanese instead.

Hmmm, can't really blame them. Society they live in, families and friends they have. Misrepresentation is everywhere. We can analyse the reasons to why and whatnot. But... I have to be honest, I would probably have an aligning mentality had I been in their shoes. Not really abnormal human behaviour

That being said >;0 I despise nationalism! Associating individuals to a state is probably one of the greatest fictions created. Albeit, it does generate a sense of "connection" with others on a "large" scale. That itself is a product of weird group mentalities. aaah, yeaa.... Hmmmm, I don't knooow. Seems to be a bit weird...I never asked to be born in a specific country, nor did I choose to have specific adults. Yet from that information itself generalizations and suches are formed (not that they're inherently bad or anything) It just seems so strange, I feel like I'm cheating. Whenever I'm at the airport with my Japanese passport; they will never raise an eyebrow, ever. Whereas if I would travel alone from the Netherlands to another country where narcotics and suches are highly illegal, with barely any luggage, and with my DUTCH passport. I think they would hold me in custody for more than half a day under suspicion I'm some kind of mule. (but I'd be the same person, only a different passport)

Sometimes I'm convinced that the world is run by irony.

Wow indeed!

I noted the agricultural lands so close to the shoreline. When Hurricane Ike hit us back in '08 one of the side effects was all of the salt water deposited upon on arable land. Acres and acres of grasslands for cows and trees for beauty were killed. Because of the salt left in the ground - most plant life can not grow - until the salt is leached via rainfall down below the root level. Depending upon the type of soil - scientists said it could take 2 to 4 years.

Buildings can be rebuilt.

I was attending a conference a year later where the speaker was from the Medical Hospital that was destroyed in Galveston. He was talking about the slow recovery and the fact the hospital may take years to come back. This hospital was critical to the poor peoples from our region because it was dedicated to providing operations needed by people who had no insurance. (Big big blow to social services by the way).

But what I remember most about his talk was how passionate he sounded when he said there were signs the Trees were coming back to life. The citizens of Galveston were rallying around the beloved trees of their home and there was a Watch for Trees movement. He practically cried when he showed us before and after - and then now pictures of trees. I cried with him...

Closer to my area - many people's lawns were dead for almost 2 years. Wildlife habitats were destroyed and gone. And of course the coast line was irrevocably devastated never to be seen that way again for much of it was gone.

I see a particular kind of hardship looming for the people's there due to the fact salt has contaminated their fields. If they were used to grow food for the people - sigh - then this recovery will be longer than most might think.

I searched on the Japanese nuclear reactors and came across this NPR ongoing article:

http://www.npr.org/2011/03/13/134501905/crisis-at-nuclear-plant-adds-to-japans-woes

So far the reactors seem under control with minimum radiation leakage.

The impending aftershocks are of concern though.

At the end of it - the Prime Minister of Japan said:
Kan expressed optimism that the quake would create economic demand that would offset some of the cost of the disaster.

Will someone please explain to me what the hell he's talking about? Who is going to pay for all of the devastation? How is that going to create economic demand to offset the costs?
