President Donald Trump

I went to bed expecting the worst. This election has only ever been about keeping one person out.
My thoughts? Please please please, every person who said they would leave the country if Trump won, please dont prove to be liars.
Next, Trump hold your promise and make sure Hillary goes to trial.
Lastly, you have a real chance to prove everyone wrong and become a great President. This is America and we deserve a great President.

We will have President Donald Trump. He and his team won. Makes me want to join the Republican Party and try to help fix the broken hourglass.

@Eventhorizon...It's fact now. What are your thoughts? Do you see what I see now that from the ground up we are Republican lead? Congress has retained it's Republican hold and in my opinion Trump just got a free pass...

(ps: @Skarekrow can you weigh in with your thoughts on my questions as well?) I'm not being fecious ...any body can weigh in...I am curious where folks think we are to go from here.

How in the world did this happen? The past months all I read about was how everyone was ridiculing him, saying that he will never become president anyway. But now he won???? And with an overly Republican congress? Well he can just do about everything he wants then. :/ I'm fearing for strange times, even though I'm not American myself nor live in the USA.

We are not Republican lead. 8 years of a socialist President bent on doing whatever he could to break Americas back proves that. Trump breaking through the ranks of the GOP, not a republican himself and winning... He knew he had to run as either a Democrat or a Republican and he knew Hillary had the Democrat nomination tied up. Otherwise he would just as easily run as a Democrat.

The only good thing I see right now coming out of this is that its sent a message to the GOP. Your supporters are tired of your entrenched minions. We do not want do nothing political drones. We want people who will actually advance the country forward.

That said I believe this is what happened. There was a huge turn out of black voters for Obama for obvious reasons. That didn't happen for Hillary.

Hillary was denied the White House and this is what people should be celebrating.

Things are different here in Britian. We do have elections but they are really just for show.

Ask Theresa May - our latest unelected Prime Minister (the last was Gordon Brown who I actually kinda liked - back then the £1 was worth $1.53 and now it's $1.22, and since we are a country that imports a lot of stuff this matters...). Instead in Britain, we have a 'constitutional monarchy'. It's great. Basically, you have to pull a big sword called Excalibur from an ancient stone, then sit in a special chair (we use the term throne) and wear a big hat with a lot of jewels that you stole from other countries.

On the plus side, we do have the BBC and Harry Potter, but I am told that Harry is a fictional charachter and doesn't really exist. This is a shame as he was my favorite, and as my real name is Ron Weasley, it calls into question my very being... is my hair even ginger ?

However grim this election turns out to be, hang in there. You made the right choice trying this democracy thing out, and for the most part it works a lot better than the stuff other places use. Don't take my word for it, ask the Chinese, Russians or North Koreans, I think they woud agree except they'd be shot for saying so. I am of course messing around, and I don't doubt for a minute the deep frustration and anger many regular Americans feel about the election, and the way it is happening. Campaign finance seems to be a key issue to me, along with trying to engage people into becoming more involved in the processes, that have such an impact on their lives.

In case the secret police of the afore mentioned countries are reading this.. I just want to say that I love and respect your democratic values and only used your names as you are so clearly above reproach. That's the gods honest truth, or my names not Ron Weasley..
Democracy would work better though (in the UK too) without big money, vested interests and the hype and illusion created through the media.

You do understand that this will not happen, right? She was already investigated and no charges were brought. Sure, he could have it looked at again but even suggesting that she should go to jail for it based on his own personal beliefs (and because he is president now) is grounds for impeachment. This is not a dictatorship.

Even if he somehow had this reopened (which would be rare) she would not spend any time in jail if found guilty of anything (which remember, she was already cleared). It is very unlikely that he will keep his word on anything that you may have bought into. Which may be a good thing.

Have you forgotten about the Clinton Foundation investigation? If so I wont hold it against you, the liberal media pulled all the stops out trying to keep it under wraps as best they could. The really great thing about it? The crimes shes accused of carry more unalterable jail time than espionage.
As for the email thing, Im not in law so you might be right about that. I really hope not though. She as one of the most corrupt people all the world knows belongs there.

Going into the election Trump was only predicted to have a 25% chance of actually winning the election. It seems that when comparing where he's won seats to previous candidates he has gained popularity in many areas that have never really supported republicans. I think it's interesting that there was only a 0.1% difference between the amount of votes each received overall (47.6% to 47.5%) even though Trump stomped Hillary in a lot of states.

Truthfully I was surprised that Trump won but at the same time not surprised. I do think that he has become President because many people feel the political system is broken. I think it will be interesting to see how a businessman runs a country vs someone who has been involved heavily in politics most of their life. There might be value in having an outsider of the political world stepping in and looking at the internal mechanisms with a different perspective.

What I find interesting about things down in the USA is that there no longer seems to be any middle ground among the people. People who support Hillary are labelled one way and people who support Trump are labelled another. I hope that Trump does a decent job as President and some of the hatred and mistrust between people can be healed. It really seems that each side doesn't trust the other for a variety of reasons and I think those perspectives should be honoured. The country is very diverse in its values so I hope that now that this election is over Trump will perform in such a way that people can begin to trust each other again. This campaign was really ugly.

The USA is drowning right now and there are so many things that need attention that it's hard to say where Trump should even start to help it get back on its feet and bring people together. I hope he is able to create more opportunities for people and that what he said in his speech was true about giving citizens the ability to live their best life. I think that's pretty much all anyone wants: to be able to live their life to the fullest and in the best way that they can without hatred and judgement and heavy restriction and also without having to simply scrape by and hope for the best.

I am choosing to be optimistic about the result and would like to give Trump the opportunity to exceed expectations. That's all anyone can do at this point.

Thank you for speaking your mind :-) I appreciate it.

It won't be investigated.
