The best solution I can imagine is to just continue to be a leftist who doesn't fit the mold, the more the extremists tighten their grip the more supporters slip through their fingers. Fight the right, and fight the loonies- not all the time because that shit is exhausting but don't be afraid to repel moronic ideas no matter from what quarter, this problem goes beyond left and right, liberal and conservative, there are large portions of the American public that are immune to reality and resistant to change and they get their way far too often. Strike back, its our patriotic duty to shame the mouth-breathers!

Excellent post. The fact is though one side is simply more prone to living outside of reality. We can say all sides are subject to this but if one is a thousand to one more prone to being influenced by information that exists nowhere other than fantasy, I think its reasonable to acknowlege that.

As sad as it is to admit, my side is the one stifling speech these days... We didn't used to be like this- at some point the left just took leave of its senses and prioritized feelings over facts. Leave that for the Christians in religious debates! Leftists are supposed to be free speech advocates but now they've set fire to so many of their principles in order to make a safe space out of the entire world.

As I said before, I may be independent but I fall on the liberal side of issues more often than the conservative. It is in that sense that I think of leftists as my kin. But i'll never be one of them completely because I have this really annoying tendency towards making up my own mind and drawing my own conclusions from things.

Thank you for dissecting my post. But the statement is accurate..for everyone. Because I certainly do not understanding everything currently and I am sure I can not fathom some of the things I do not yet know.
It only comes off as arrogant because its easier for you to believe that is what I am rather than simply being right.

I know you care about scientific accuracy and truth just as much as I do, so just to get back to Virophages:

I'm sorry I haven't watched the videos but in response to the thread question I would answer that for me it is a very simple and clear no, the left is not eating itself. To the best of my knowledge, the left is discussing problems such as overcrowding of prisons, universal access to necessities of living standard such as healthcare and legal representation, deportation of immigrants, hookworm and filthy water in the poverty stricken US South, torture of Indigenous youth in detention, murders of transgender people, gun control, eternal wars and military expenditure, fracking, and so on. The idea that the left is consumed by individuals spending their time trying to destroy others ability to speak in the social forum appears to me to be a sort of intensely focused and carefully directed phantom threat invented to depict people with more socialist political ideals as crazed. You will even encounter people quoting some philosophically bunk research about leftist people being psychotic for example, utterly transparent ad hominem garbage, not worth paying the slightest attention to, when you could be reading and learning and thinking about actual significant problems out there, like problems of equality. I'm sure there are a variety of people out there getting excited about various things, particularly youth exploring their passions, but I don't think that the idea that these people are eating the left with their passions could really bear a great deal of scrutiny by comparison to activities surrounding those problems like I mentioned. Maybe I would think differently about it if I got my news and current events commentary from different media sources from where I do.

Regardless of what the name means I see nothing in your definition that resembles eating. Im specifically thinking of digesting for energy. Not impairing or weakening.

Some quick thoughts about #walkaway

So the democratic party is apparently losing it's goddamn mind and unfortunately setting the stage for Republican gains in the upcoming midterms.

I'm seeing democrats splitting between the traditional politicians like Nancey Pelosi and the far-left typified (at least at the moment) by Maxine Waters. Waters is going full open borders which is not at all popular in America especially since horror stories about grooming gangs and no-go zones filter out of the EU. The tension between the left and right has been ratcheting up for quite some time but now it seems the Democratic party faces internal instability as well. Likely if there are not significant changes in the near future the party could just collapse outright.

So in addition to the Dems teetering on the brink of a civil war in their party, the far left is also shitting all over anyone on the moderate left who is not voting or who is switching to the Republican side in the midst of this massive bonfire made of feces. True to the title of this thread the left is now eating itself alive with horrific enthusiasm.

Centrist voters and disenfranchised democrats... these are the people you need to win, especially when you remember that the Democrats lost the last election. But the response to these people turning their noses up at this mess is basically "goodbye Nazi, didn't need you anyway". 2 problems: first, they are not Nazis & second: yes, yes you do need them.

As for myself, with moving and a new job and everything to figure out I doubt i'll have time to vote in the midterms, which is a moot point because i'm honestly at a loss as to what to do with all this anyway.
