I celebrated Mother's Day today with my younger son because he spends Sundays with his dad. I made him Pan-seared filet mignon (his favorite cut of meat, of course), a salad with his favorite dressing, zesty french fries (not on his diet and therefore a treat) and blackberry tart (prepared by Paul the night before at my request).
He asked me why I was doing all this for him and I answered "Because I can and it gives me joy." It was the best Mother's Day present he could have given me: to see him truly enjoy something I prepared for him.
