Corona / Wuhan virus

Actually I am NOT looking for a fight because on this list I lose that fight EVERY time (I may be new but I am not stupid). No what I am attempting to do for those with an open enough mind set is try and point out that putting ALL Republicans or ALL Democrats in the same wheel barrow is a very bad idea. That there are folks on here that want to deal with in stereotypes of Republicans as old white people with a lot of money is just foolish. And as MY experience has shown (and this is rather universal) once someone on the left feels compromised then the labeling/name calling starts. No, I am neither a Nazi (leftist organization) or a Communist (an even further left organization)

And the reason for the "lad"? I don't know how that gets defined in England but I can't imagine for a second that I would qualify.

*chuckles* Mate you really need to chill out.

The point of a debate is not to change people's minds. Its to exchange ideas.

Someone may think that all Republicans are baby eating monsters. But you aren't going to change their mind. Trying is pointless.

You can either
a) Get offended and rant at a computer screen and people who really don't care to make yourself feel better whilst doing nothing useful
b) Accept people are going to think that way, move on, and have a more productive life and relationship with others of a different opinion

Choice is yours mate.

And the Nazis are Left and Right. The Left - Right mythology is just that, a mythos. Politics isn't a single spectrum, its a multi-dimensional grid. Nazis are both left and right being both Nationalist and Socialist.

So Nazis are Fascist and Socialist. Painting anything you don't like as Left Wing or Right Wing is just childish buddy.

I'm just going to butt in here because I feel it's ever so slightly needed.
@larry806q You need to stop with this mess. I've seen you in other threads relating to the American political landscape, espousing the same sort of rhetoric, and frankly it's getting boring. This thread is about the COVID-19 and is not for you to start sharing your perspective on the forum's politics. I can only recall one time someone made a joke about Republicans dying - and they were sternly put down for it. This community is open minded (or as much as can be possible considering personal biases on such topics) and can and does engage in civil, calm discourse. Your tunnel vision approach to members of this community discussing such politics is the only close mindedness occurring. They aren't the issue, your provocative style is.

Just in case you say this is an example of people attacking your politics or whatever - it's not. I've actually liked some of the counter
-arguments you've presented in separate (related) threads. This is just my observations on your behaviour. How about you stop making sweeping statements on the community and try to engage with us on a level field if you wish to make a point.
If you have any questions or just want to reply, PM me.

Most people (including myself) don't really want death to others however, that does get posted on here rather routinely.

You're delusional. Stop that.

Looking at the CDC's website something that struck me as odd some time back is under the coronavirus symptoms:

Call your doctor if you…

Develop symptoms, and have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19

OR

Have recently traveled from an area with widespread or ongoing community spread of COVID-19.

How does that help prevent the spread of the virus?
Answer: It doesn't. It's simply covering their ass with a feather.

We've gone past the point where you must have contact with someone who has been diagnosed with it or have to have visited an area known to have it. People are traveling from here to there and back again spreading it all before being diagnosed due to exactly this information above.

as a medical person. . RN, I no longer consider the CDC a solid source of factual information. I am more interested in what the WHO has to say about covid-19. .

Welp..we started stocking up on non perishables and other necessities in case we have to wait this thing out a few weeks at home. Researching and eating/taking foods/herbs with antiviral properties and taking vitamin D3 for immunity. And using so much hand sanitizer and washing my hands so much they are raw. I'm a bit of a germaphobe anyway. I wasn't worried about this until I saw WHO raised the deathrate to 3.4% and there are cases popping up all over here.

You can't stop the spread, unless everyone with flu stays home.

You just have to keep hands clean and use hand santizier if you can find any...

Even WHO has a few questions to answer. They were trying to avoid causing a panic but they should have called a Pandemic way early and allowed countries to close borders with China.

Viruses don't respect international politics or economics. Action needs to happen fast and you can't hesitate because it might piss off the Communist Party of China.

My Walmart has run out of Sanatizer. Fortunately I bought a big bottle before we went to Disneyland for our honeymoon but its telling people are taking this seriously.

@ReasonEnduring I think just properly washing hands with soap should be enough. Hand sanitizer doesn't kill viruses.

*checks bottle*

You are absolutely right.

I always assumed 99% of Germs included viruses as well. But no, in small writing it only includes bacteria.

Hmm. Well it probably will still destroy some of them but its not specifically anti-viral. Or anti-fungal. Hmm...

I actually might be wrong about that now that I'm googling it. I guess the alcohol can take care of it. I thought soap was more effective. I was just going off the bottle which states it's effective against bacteria. No harm to use both. And then just not touch your face.

the problem with al the hand sanitizer is that it strips moisture from the skin and can cause cracks. . .then you dont have intact skin, more susceptible than if you weren't washing at all. .

I'm glad you chimed in I was just thinking of tagging you as an RN would know! That's a really good point about cracks/infection.

I have a hard time every winter with my hands (cracks due to cold dry air and using sanitizer and soap frequently as I said I do a lot of home visits). So I get cracked hands and fingers. I use liquid bandaid ba cracks and it works well and heals it quickly. Then I make my own "bee balm" which is just melting down 1 part bees wax to coconut oil, Shea butter, cocoa butter, vitamin E and extra virgin olive oil. When it cools, it solidifies and you can use it as a balm to seal in moisture.

yep. . really important to moisturize your hands. . you skin will thank you

See I never used Hand Sanatizer back in the UK.

It just was never a thing.

But since being here in the US especially in California where in the big cities TB has become a big problem due to the homeless crisis pretty much everyone who lives in the poorer areas like this use it constantly.

Can only imagine how horrendous it will get with these vast homeless populations.

Speak of the devil.

We've got confirmed cases immediately below us and several miles above us.

We're the filling in a California Coronavirus sandwich. Fantastic.

You already know what some are going to say that leaving if at all possible should be considered, the west coast used to be such a great place to live but sadly those years are a distant memory.

Legally can't right now and the wife's life is here so leaving won't be an option for a few years.

Took us 2 years to just get into the US, considering the process isn't finished it's not easy to just up sticks again.
