What are your favorite healthy ways to engage Se?

Walking, lots of walking in nature to engage the senses and bring one to a more complete experience of Being. Painting and listening to music. I can't play an instrument, but I imagine that it would provide emotional and sensation release. Exercise regularly. Sex, in a healthy, loving relationship.

Pin,
You're a freaking TRIP!!! :sweatsmile::tearsofjoy::tonguewink:

I have struggled all my life with this and didn't realize it until recently. I tend to get stuck in Ni-Ti, get sucked into Netflix or Youtube or forums (like this one, ha) or really just any interesting online information rabbit-holes, or binge read, or eat too much, or eat the wrong things, or both.

I have recently started doing more hiking in the woods (awesome!) and some brief meditating in the mornings. I would love to know what other things people to do engage Se in a healthy way. Seems I ought to have made a lifelong practice of this already. And I have two INFJ kids who need to know about this, too (probably the INTJ one as well).

Read (I don't think I could ever read too much, haha) , exercise, meditation, support groups, talking with friends.

Chopping and stacking wood! All senses are stimulated and it's good physical work as well. :smiley: And you don't want to be lost in thought and chop your finger off, so it's great for getting your mind off things and be in the moment! :wink:

How timely! There's a cord in my driveway waiting to be stacked...weak shoulder can't handle chopping, unfortunately, but I like the physical rhythm of stacking.

Making art covers all the bases for me, but particularly Se oriented creative activities focus on composition, design, and color theory. If you're just drawing something from your imagination that could veer into Ni territory.

Doing anything that forces sensing to be active. When hiking pay attention to your surroundings instead of thinking about things and getting lost in your head. Listen to the sounds and look at everything. You could try watching for birds.
Play video games (including non-violent ones) where you need to rely on paying attention to your environment. Decorating/rearranging your house uses Se. Planting flowers uses Se. Matching clothes uses Se.
Listen to music and pay attention to it without getting lost in your head.

As Ni doms we're very good at sneaking into Ni during sensing activities, so make a point of stopping your brain from doing it and pay attention to everything "on the surface".

So I like to fold clothes, then color match and arrange my clothes in the color spectrum. I play video games that are puzzle oriented. I read comics. Drawing helps quite a bit. I need to do more of that.
