Looks like excessive execution followed by excessive litigation. The only thing American society delivers in lukewarm moderation anymore is constructive involvement.

Would it be impossible to get this student, the student's family, and the school officials to sit down and have a civil discussion on the matter sans legal obfuscations?

I'd still be poor.

What happened to making the kids stay after school and clean the classroom?

I hope the child gets her record wiped, the million dollars and is made to clean desks every day after school for a year.
