What political party do YOU most align with, and what do you like about them?

It seems like all the news talks about is how either George Bush was bad, or how Barack Obama is bad. Everyone is upset over the administration in the white house! I want to do something positive concerning politics for a change. No flaming or trolling please - I want to hear what you like about YOUR favorite party, not what you dislike about THEIR party (boo!).

Incidentally, I used to be a staunch objectivist (Randroid!) Really! Isn't that nifty? I changed from it though... and now I don't really like to follow politics that much. I wanted to know though:

I included the Major and Minor parties as listed on Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_the_United_States#Major_Parties

I still lean toward libertarianism when I do discuss politics. Ayn Rand's political theory still rings in my heart!

I've voted more in this thread than I've ever voted in any real political campaign.

MrCoffee can I get a hot cup of your blackest grounds?

I am a liberal that tends to agree with conservitives. That might sound like a total contradiction, but it is the truth.

Independent.

I'm social liberal. I have yet to solidify my economic stances.

I don't like party politics.

ugh, why does practically everyone think the crusades were one-sided, as if the 'Christian' armies were the only ones that did anything bad? Seriously people, read up on your history and get it straight.

True peace isn't possible. We'll always have (even in the absence of war, which I doubt will happen) negative peace. That's coming from a pacifist.

However, making strides in trying to diminish war, and negative peace are important efforts. The less suffering (human, animal, environmental, what have you) the better. Most violence comes out of struggles for resources. We have the capabilities to at least feed, water, and cloth almost the entire populace. Sure, it would be costly, expensive, and hard, but I think it's something important to work for.

Religious wars...ehhh...that's a toughie.

I'm a fan of socialism, but I don't feel like arguing with people over it because that is pointless.

this thread just reminded of two things, that first there is a silent majority, second that florida's ballet last year hadd 22 parties on it.

I think that war teaches people the value of peace. True peace (I assume this to mean absence of war) will not occur for an extended period of time (on a global scale).

I think if you wanted peace then you would start talking to global leaders to see if they (and their county) wanted peace.

Aww, that's sweet!

I aligned myself with either Whitlams Labour Government, or Keatings Labour Government.

I don't believe in political parties.

Politics is too confusing... I think the Green Party's heart is in the right place, but they probably wouldn't be able to do what they wanted....

I just want a government that cares about education, transport and health services. It's all I ask for XD
