I always understood it as having something and not wanting to use / lose it just yet.. sort of hoarding it.. saving it. But also wanting to consume it... now.

You can't have your cake.. and eat it too.

I used to get an individual cake slice and just keep it in the fridge and not eat it, because I strangely craved it more when there was none in the house than when there was a bit in the fridge. It eventually became known to my wife’s frustration (and occasional theft) as my “Lookin’ on cake.”

And no, you cannot have your lookin’ on cake and eat it too.

All quotes that say something like "Without experience, we cannot learn." It's such bullshit.

As if we are passive recipients of experience rather than active participants in the process of learning. As if learn by "accumulating experiences" rather than creatively interpreting all kinds of information that comes out way.

That's true, but to actually experience something yourself is a lot deeper than reading about it, no?

    Exactly!
Maybe there are two schools of thought on cake; those who say it should be eaten and those who prefer lookin' lol.

I always read this and I see it as self justification for "I do what I want." I'm not sure I'm accurate. Usually dumb behavior is how I read it. I think I have more of a problem with dumb behavior than bad behavior. This is starting to become a weird tangent soapbox.

Ha. First thought too, then I wondered if the translation screwed it up. Then I remembered how I talk and realized it's probably fine. I sometimes start in the middle and work my way to the start and finish of a thought. Stupid Ni.

    Point of the thread.
The food here is terrible, and the portions are too small. Woody Allen.

I find this funny because I know too many people in real life that act like this. I thinks it's clever and terrible.

Lol yeah I get what you're saying. Determination or grit is required for some types of outcome and failing is part of the process which is the reason for doing something over and over expecting desired results. In that aspect insanity would be a misnomer. I can see insanity being used for description if such process cannot equal to the outcome of desired result remaining Unacheavable even through repetition and determination. But yet is still attempted on repeat in blind hope with lack of awareness that desired result can not be achieved..

I've always liked various Southernisms. Some of them are hilarious. Some of them make no friggin' sense.

“His face looks like 10 miles of dirt road"

    um, what?
