Transgender - Why is it even a thing?

Look everyone has the right to hold their own views, and it's nice to try putting in the effort to gently inform someone one way or another. But I just don't think when people say things like this it's out of curiosity or being open to information. I think a person like this is just opening a thread to let out bitterness and skimp out on taking responsibility for the blatant disrespect he has for others. I don't believe something like this is EVEN WORTH anyone's attention or replies.

Meanwhile, Lerxst himself has stopped responding to this thread while we're all still shitting ourselves over it.

In my opinion, this is garbage and a great way to epically waste everyone's time and concern. To me, I don't wanna see this crap. I think it has to be shut down.

It's also worth mentioning yet again that some people here tend to automatically label my behavior as unacceptably aggressive when I display my type as ESTP rather than leaving it as ENFJ or nothing at all.

Don't be so weak-minded. You doom yourself to being a sheep in the process, not to mention personally inconsistent.

I have a strange view on labels and identity...

I think our society has an incredible obsession with labels which has since become detrimental to the individual. I hate using labels, but it is a must.
To begin with, without labels we would lose our sense of identity. Society has really molded the idea that we are all different which is both a good and bad thing, but I think it's obvious that we have made it into a counterproductive necessity.

If life were ideal, we wouldn't need to use labels - identity would not be an issue, but since it is not an ideal life - we use these labels to make people know who we are because of society's violent tendency to erase and ignore identities that deviate from the "normal."

Being Transgender - is an identity, and it is being ignored. Ignoring someone who identifies themselves as the gender they were not biologically born in - and continuing to treat them as if they were their biological gender is an act of aggression and erasure.

Someone who feels they are female and wants to be treated female should be treated female. It's not difficult.

It would not be a problem, if people chose not to make it a difficult topic.

What does identifying as a different gender complicate? How does this complicate society in an economical or social way? Is it really that hard to stare at someone and accept that they are the gender they want to be? No it's not. It's the unwillingness to accept.
It's not difficult. The same thing applies with the treatment of Black people, Native Americans, and LGBTQA people. It's not that difficult. It's the unwillingness to accept - people are incredibly, frustratingly narrow minded.

Yes, there is a lot of things about society that we must fix. The treatment of Black people, Native Americans, Colored people all must be justified and not ignored, but so do LGBTQA people - and this includes Transgender.

I feel like prioritizing social injustices involving mainly identity, sexual orientation, and racism need to be addressed together - none should be prioritized over the other. This is a need to accept people as who they are.

yes. the thread was clearly not begun with the intention of gaining understanding or exploring other possibilities of meaning. it is self-evident that it was begun in an abusive, hateful way that targeted a group of people maliciously. it is inflammatory. i dont understand why this thread was not locked and moved to the troll cave as soon as it was posted. Lerxst should have been immediately sent on a holiday ban as well. what happened is not OK.

Yeah. For a type that's supposed to be able to read the intentions of others well, some of you ain't that great at it. Oh well. Continue to wallow in arguing circles around one another, and in your feelings and your unproductive, unintelligent group dynamics.

Third, I think you mean transVESTITE - which is not the same as transgendered.
Finally someone whom knows what they are talking about!

You are trans-MBTI too? Have you tried one of those big five tests?

You seem more clumsy than aggressive, I am sure you have not upset anyone. Do you sometimes feel a bit ashamed when you don't have anyone to talk with? You seem a little sad as of late.

I wish you could actually make more well thought out posts with consequence rather than mostly just poking around, since you have the ability to. I think though that I shouldn't waste my time trying to engage or change you. Be who you wanna be.

We have Baltimore rioting, bursting into flames and people looting everything in sight on one hand, then, we have... Bruce Jenner on the other. One of these is newsworthy, the other isn't.

We have people getting shot and brutalized by cops in the street because of the skin color they were born with, while we have transgender people who voluntarily go about changing their gender openly then start crying about their inequality.

Shut up, move over and sit down. There are people with real problems who had no choice in the matter that need attention, the transgender issues are nothing more than a distraction.

when i was 20 my father took me for a ride in the car and told me that everything was all in my head, my problems werent real, and i needed to get over it and get on with life. he told me that i lacked self discipline. 5 days later i was in a psychiatric hospital on suicide watch.

There are people dying from earthquakes and wars so who cares about gays and their problems? Who cares about blacks when they are not slaves anymore? Who cares about you and your petty issues too? This is simple minded thinking. You can always find something worse. Apparently you have enough time on your hands to complain about transgenders that could be used to help people with 'real' issues. I am not certain why you have the right to complain about how everyone else prioitizes their time when they at least put in places that are more positive and not in putting others down.

Not that you are a simple minded person but you need to put more thought into this argument. You just keep repeating it and you really don't provide any real discussion to this thread.

some people go through life refusing to engage with the feelings of other people. they deny the reality of the feelings of others. they have no idea what other people go through in this life and they dont want to know. they just want to deny that other people have problems in their emotional worlds at all. the one thing that is common to all oppression is the denial of the world of subjective feeling. if you are denying that other peoples feeling worlds are real and present genuine problems to them, you are an oppressor, because thats what oppression is.

Yeah but it all makes sense doesn't it?

I mean there is method to the madness

The baltimore riots are happening because of a number of interlinked factors and whether some posters here believe it or not aggressive campaigning on the part of minority groups is also linked to all that when you follow the money trails

This is a massive topic but to try and sum it up in a medium sized post....

A group of powerful bankers have taken over the control of the money supply of the US then bought up all its media (newspapers, radio, TV, magazines, film industry etc) then subverted its government (through lobbying and funding of politicians and no doubt threats too) then it took the country off the gold standard in the 1970's so that they could push their paper money then they had the markets de-regulated and Glass-steagal struck off so that they could play casino games with everyones money that was in pensions and bank accounts, then the money dissapeared and they then got their corrupt politicians to bail them out with taxpayers money then they enforced cuts to public spending ('austerity') whilst simultaneously reducing the flow of credit and keeping interest rates artificially low by printing lots of paper money ('quantitative easing') whilst also rigging LIBOR and other things to artificially suppress the price of gold and silver and the result of this is that they have destroyed the economy and peoples savings and jobs whilst enriching themselves

This kind of social engineering where you literally gut the economy then leads to social unrest so they then have to prepare the police force to contain the rising anger of the public

So they get the israeli military to train the US police teaching them to shoot first and ask questions later, they then protect any police officers legally when they do that and they equip them with tanks, machine guns and body armour and the other trappings of what is becoming a domestic army of the central bankers

The people then get upset that they are not only being screwed economically (when the banking collapse wasn't their fault..it was the fault of the bankers) but are now also being screwed by a brutalising police force who seem only too willing to turn on their fellow members of the public in order to collect a pay cheque from their banking overlords

Meanwhile the bankers want to weaken the public further by turning sections of the populace against each other. The main way they do this is by stirring up feelings in the media and through funding protest groups to make a lot of noise about different issues (ie minority rights)

So they will fund gay people to shout at society in general about how angry they are, they will get feminists to shout at society at how angry they are, they will get transgender people to shout, they will get black people, latinos etc etc to all shout and stamp their feet

But notice that none of the protests are aimed at the people who have caused all the mess: the bankers

All these minority groups are blaming society in general, when 'society' is really just made up of people who get up in the morning and go to work then come home to their families and watch a bit of TV with a beer

Now everyone is fighting each other, society is crumbling, the economy is crumbling, no one is tackling the corrupt bankers and their plan to destroy the US on the road to creating a world government that they will control is proceeding perfectly to plan

And because they have conditioned members of the public to have a pavlovian response of mocking anyone who disagrees with the official corporate media or government line on things as a 'conspiracy nutjob' none of them are able to have any intelligent discourse or get to the root cause of the problems

lol

you have to admit...they are diabolically clever

But i'd say they are cunning (knowing how to help yourself) rather than wise (knowing how to help everyone)

You're comparing a social issue to an issue of gender treatment. Essentially you're using the old "people are starving in Africa" argument to make children eat all of their food.
During the Martin Luther King/Black Power days, a lot of people believed women to be whining about their issues, saying that black people had it way worse, so why should they complain?

Here's the scoop: There can be two different issues brought up at the same time. Just because one thing is terrible, it doesn't mean that another terrible thing can't be terrible in its own right, too.

Have you actually seen the Bruce Jenner interview? He came across very brave and honest to me.

No. Being trans is definitely, 100% a choice. It disrespects people with actual civil rights problems to lump transgender in with them.

You're completely wrong. The suicide attempt rate for transgender people is upwards of 40%. It is acknowledged as a real medical condition by the American Medical Association, APA, American Psychiatric Association, and World Health Organization.

All the evidence we have on it suggests that it is biological phenomenon resulting from changes in brain structure that occur in the womb.

Here are some studies on it:

Actually, it is in "my backyard" so to speak since it is an issue close friends and even a family member are bringing up. People, mind you, that had absolutely nothing going wrong in their lives; good job, family, house, etc.

Gay/Lesbian couples make the news with marriage and equality laws, blacks and minorities make the news with police brutality cases, now the trans people are like, "Hey, no fair! They get attention? I want it too!" and pitch a hissy fit because now they feel left out.

I don't give a rat's ass what you wear or want to call yourself. You're not being oppressed and Martin Luther King Jr. didn't get assassinated over whiny little ass-wipes who would rather wear a bra instead of t-shirt.

Transgender is a non-issue and it has fuck all to do with equality or human rights.

We have Baltimore rioting, bursting into flames and people looting everything in sight on one hand, then, we have... Bruce Jenner on the other. One of these is newsworthy, the other isn't.

Being transgender is a real problem. I spent years trying psychiatric meds, therapy, alternative medicine, anything to deal with it. Nothing worked, and now I'm taking estrogen. If it doesn't work out, I will probably kill myself.

Violence against transgender people is extremely common. As if the high suicide rate was not bad enough, there is a high murder and assault rate (including sexual assault). Most states don't have legal protections for transgender people (i.e. work discrimination). Doctors often discriminate against transgender people and will outright refuse to treat them.

So as someone who is dealing with this and who has met quite a few people dealing with it, I can assure you that it is not a choice at all. It is not a lifestyle either.

You can care about racial inequality and still care about transgender issues. I'll admit the Bruce Jenner thing was stupid, but the reality of gender variant people in this country is serious. And it is not limited to race or to the 1st world. Gender variance exists in every country. It is a universal human phenomenon.

You're entitled to your opinion, but just know that your current one makes you a bigot and goes against contemporary medical science.

Now I see transgender issues all across the news and when I was just getting used to LGB they threw a T on the end of it. No. Being trans is definitely, 100% a choice. It disrespects people with actual civil rights problems to lump transgender in with them.
You are a misanthrope and starved for attention, that explains both why you do not have the compassion to see this as a real issue and why you would spew your obvious disgust on this forum where you know it will get a highly emotional response.

Have fun, but try not to delude yourself too much (it is not healthy)

I should also add that while the suicide attempt rate is upward of 40% for transgender people (41% for trans women and 45% for trans men), that is specifically for people who do not receive treatment to undergo HRT and transition. The suicide attempt rate for transgender people who receive treatment is comparable to the general population.

It is one of the most effective medical treatments in the world. Very few people regret it and detransition, and the ones that do usually do so not because they're not trans but because of outside pressure from family, work, and society. Even for sex reassignment surgery, which only a minority of transsexual people undergo, the number of people who regret having the surgery is small.

Using all those hormones you are bound to hit all sorts of pheromone levels. I would suggest staying out of the woods during mating season. People are the least of your problems, I hear there are bears out there. ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
