Lately I've been listening to the soundracks of my favorite RPGs.

Chronotrigger
Final Fantasies - VII and VIII

Wondering if anyone has any good OLD SCHOOL rpgs they'd like to recommend.

Final Fantasy VI and Secret of Mana spring to mind (they both have excellent soundtracks too).

Illusion of Gaia/Time and Secret of Evermore are both good old school action RPGs as well, as are the Legend of Zelda games.

Can't think of any turn-based RPGs right now (apart from the earlier Final Fantasy's) so I'll have to go away and have a bit of think about it and get back to this thread later.

Ooh! Illusion of Gaia! :D

I used to listen to George Michael whilst playing Exile. Not sure that counts though.

You want old school? Here's old school!

Master Of Magic for the C64 (year 1985) with the excellent soundtrack by Rob Hubbard.

I killed the Minotaur.

Heehee. This was before I was born. Sorry I can't bask in the glory.

QFG though, boys and girls. Amazing game.

That track is awesome. Sounds like the beginning of a Dream Theather song! ....until the weird melody starts.

Which? lol I posted a handful of links.

I don't really know any other old school games that haven't already been mentioned but I really love this tune from Chrono Cross. : )

Terranigma! Where is the mention of the ever-amazing Terranigma?! It's an SNES game that absolutely ROCKS! You can find the original chiptunes at Zophar. You need an SPC player, but you can get plugins that'll work in WinAmp, etc.

One amazing (remixed) Terranigma song is courtesy of DarkeSword.

Also, www.ocremix.org is pretty awesome - they host remixes of a multitude of games. I suggest you check it out.

EDIT: I've got a ~700MB collection of remixed nintendo music. I likes! ^_^

Ohhhh yes, I love the sound track for Chrono Cross, I also like the sound track for the Silent Hill games.

Hooray, Chrono Cross and Terranigma getting some love. Both had amazing soundtracks.

Might I also point out Lufia I and II?

The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (Very very atmospheric while playing)

I'm not sure if it's old school enough, but Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind had an awesome main theme.

I'd stick Tales of Phantasia in there somewhere, but this is getting kind of cluttered.

I can listen to the Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger soundtracks until the day I die and be extremely happy.

Anyone else enjoy the Final Fantasy IX track for the starting menu?
