Critique the Candidates

Shaz, there's a big difference between the catholic church and christian principles. ESPECIALLY what the catholics were doing in France back then.

If socialists principles have things in common with biblical principles, it doesn't mean they're based on it, just that they reached the same conclusions through other ways. And even if socialism was partly based on biblical principles, it wouldn't prevent it from fighting the church institution, on the contrary.

I never said socialism here had build itself against biblical principles, but against the catholic church as an institution. You should have re-read my message.

:D there's also a big difference in christian and biblical principles
well, I've only mentioned biblical principles, you're the one talking about christian ones - and the christianism I know is based on the bible.

So, what's your point?

edit : I'm realizing we're going completely off topic :p

I'll keep my critique simple.

I was fairly ambivalent about the choices in this year's Presidential election (in that whatever the outcome, it would have to be an improvement over the past 8 years)... that is, until Palin showed up on the scene.

I am so deeply affronted and appalled by her (and therefore by McCain for appointing her as his running mate), and their assumption that she can relate to the "Average American" with her nails-on-a-chalkboard, semi-literate, slogan-spewing, heckuva-darn-tootin' fingershooting cutesy voice... her smirking, winking, flirting, venom and ignorance; her presumption of my values (or the values of any of my peers) or mindless contempt for them; her entire Feisty Barbie persona...

Oh god. She's a Stepford Wife with an automatic weapon and a wolfskin rug. She's a creationist exploring the possibility of banning books from public libraries. She is one sick, judgement-deficiant old man's heartbeat away from the presidency. And she can't pronounce NOOK-LEE-URR either. And don't get me started on dinosaurs and man co-habitating...

If McCain/Palin are elected it will be proof (to me) that all my greatest fears about my country are true and beyond redeeming (at least in my lifetime). That it is a surreal, pointless, chaotic puppet show. That those majority voters are in an alternate reality without sense or reason or honor.

Need chamomile tea now... twitching... twitching... twitching.

McCain wants to kill the middle class (higher taxes)
Obama wants to kill your rights (strict gun control)

I don't like either of them.

It's not as if the US Army couldn't put down any uprising with cruise missiles anyway.

The Second Amendment is for citizens. Citizens must have the right to bear arms, not just for the sake of defending themselves from outsiders, but for defending themselves from their own government if need be. This is very important and Obama wants to take that ability away from the citizens of the U.S.

Gun control is a good thing to a certain extent, but Obama doesn't want citizens to have access to semi-automatic weapons which is simply ridiculous. I think he has recently retracted his plans to take away semi-automatics because he realized how retarded he was being, but the fact remains that he wants to have stricter gun control laws. More laws does not equal more safety. In fact, countries like Sweden whose citizens are heavily armed have a lower crime rate.

I don't really either, but sadly it seems to me every vote I've ever cast in my life was a vote for The Lesser of Two Evils.

To me, Palin represents most of what I consider to be evil, so my voting choice has been made effortless this year.

I'm with you on that ZenCat. Whole-heartedly.

You forgot that she made rape victims pay for their rape kits.

But lets think of the good things we know about Sarah Palin.

1. She reads every newspaper. Every one of them!
2. She can solve every problem in this country by relating it back to Energy, Cutting Taxes, or the American worker!

That is pretty amazing stuff right there.

Ohhhh I didn't forget. I'm currently under self-imposed house arrest... no more googling "Palin". It just makes my molars shorter and makes nobody come within 5 feet of me if I'm sitting at the computer. Even my dogs are giving me a wide berth, such is my vibe.

Ah...I have just the monkey for you!

Perfect for those Palin moments.

I must say Palin speeches are much better with the sound off.

I just tried it and you are indeed correct. :ml:

Which is ironic since that is how she watches all the shows that make fun of her.

That is sarcasm, right...?
