Both and more. Prufrock is a very surrealistic poem, though Eliiot would probably disagree, and it has been a special one to me since I read it first in grade school. The levels I personally perceive in it are volumnious, as well as relating to how I live in the world, as I feel a melancholic existentialist mood within it.
I could probably write a book on all I see in this poem and what it evokes and invokes for me.
