Actually, I tend to favor the dramatic, so I'm not too sure I have that many similar recommendations.
I actually studied French in college and one of my teachers spoke highly of it and I love the language and culture, so I sought it out.
I actually made a thread on Japanese cinema (here) with a couple of recommendations that are for the most part historical romances, with a less comedic and more drama oriented style though.
Amadeus, A Beautiful Mind, Cast Away, Good Will Hunting, The King's Speech, Memento (for it's technical innovation, not stylistically charming), Chaplin, The Last Emperor, and Crash for their historical, cultural, and/or sentimental charm all come to mind.
