  • Oh. LOL just curious where you were at on the map. I doubt I'll make it out that way any time soon though. :(
Oh yes, especially if he read my 'toy pistol' self-confession... hahaha. Oh my Lord, what a Freudian slip. All my penis envy has been exposed. That's what I call fucking embarrassing.

Thanks for the rep comment, by the way. :)
Well, if it makes you feel better, I dressed up in boys outfits all the time. Actually, that might not make you feel better, haha. :) I remember I went through a stage of carrying round toy pistols and wearing cowboy boots, and then I would dress all my little cousins up in boys clothes too and we'd pretend we were in the army. It always seemed like boys had more fun, you know? Probably Freud would come up with some weird sexualised interpretation, but I just wanted to have adventures. :)
Hope ur better soon then :) that pic was actually taken in Kiev :) there was some little bridge with loaaads of love-locks :) trust me to come across it when I was absolutely heartbroken :)
hey... im tired like hell, been clearing the house of all sorts of junk... now its almost easier to breathe here :) And you?
Oh, and the entire Pixar collection are all fantastic. The studio's history and success is a remarkable story in and of itself. I did a report on them and I make it a point to watch all their movies.
Actually, I tend to favor the dramatic, so I'm not too sure I have that many similar recommendations.

I actually studied French in college and one of my teachers spoke highly of it and I love the language and culture, so I sought it out.

I actually made a thread on Japanese cinema (here) with a couple of recommendations that are for the most part historical romances, with a less comedic and more drama oriented style though.

Amadeus, A Beautiful Mind, Cast Away, Good Will Hunting, The King's Speech, Memento (for it's technical innovation, not stylistically charming), Chaplin, The Last Emperor, and Crash for their historical, cultural, and/or sentimental charm all come to mind.
I'm currently in the process of converting my dvd collection into a digital format on an external hard drive and I have nearly a full terabyte of videos so far. I haven't gotten to Amélie yet, but I'll find it in this stack, convert it, and watch it again since I've been reminded.

    It's definitely a charming film. :)
I knew it looked familiar. I have the movie, but have not watched it in so long that I was unsure.

Great movie. I'm going to watch it again soon to refresh my memory. =)
Thank you, and good luck in your endeavours with French. Knight in Battle is also learning French so maybe you two could help each other?
I've never actually left the UK in my life, but I do plan on moving to Japan within the next few years to teach.

Also if you're learning French I highly recommend this site www.Duolingo.com
the basic grammar is fairly ok but the more into it you go the more daunting it seems to get. But if you're up for a challenge it's definitely for you. The pronunciation is something I haven't had much of a problem with personally because I've listened to the language for so long I've passively picked it up, but after some practice anyone can pick it up I'm sure.

If you do want to study Japanese though I can point you to a fair few sites which are pretty good for learning =]

I'm also thinking of starting online lessons over skype (for a small fee) to help people get as far as I am, if you're interested.
