This self inquiry isn't singularly religious, spiritual, esoteric, or even systematic. This is something anyone at any time can ask themselves. All it requires is You. What is your relationship with your self? You might say well I'm me. Yes. Indeed. Though beyond a definition of what is a me. Desires, neurosis, morality, beliefs? Well yes, all of that. Maybe a human being. Then why throughout the world dating back to before time keeping, have religious systems told of something bigger, something out side of us? Our religions have said there's a god, an all powerful being controlling the mechanisms of our lives as tiny in comparison to it. Our spiritual systems have upheld something a little closer to truth. However, the focus has been obscured by the skewed relationship we've been taught we have with our world. That we are here and whatever it is, god, gaia, the force is out there. That institutions, systems, and respected organizations have the answers and that we look to another for guidance, help, healing, and answers.
Well the simple self inquiring of our relationship to God(a word describing infinity) is in fact our relationship with our Self. Could it be so simple that any and all of our answers are within us? That any seeking outside of ourselves whether it be to religion, spirituality, materialism, relationships is a division inherent with separation? What if there is no wrong way, just ignorance? No right way, just truth?
I invite you to question your self. Who am I? What am I? And even Jesus. The Buddha. Do you see them as a being any different than you? The Buddha wasn't the name of the human that became enlightened. Jesus traveled the Asian continent where Buddhism was already practiced for 500 years, before going back to the Middle East. It's a fun thought to explore with an open mind, and you just might come across what both humans taught.
