How would you type onscreen couples in classic Hollywood films.

    Two films to start with:

    1) Gone with the Wind (1939) -Scarlett O'Hara & Rhett Butler

    2) *Anastasia (1956) - Yul Brynner & Ingrid Bergman (I'm curious about this one in particular)

Edit: Please guess the ones posted and then add your own choices.

Thanks. I think Yul's character is a bit difficult to type.

    Parcel,
Very, very impressive job of even attempting to sort these characters by type.
I only know about INFJs and because my wife is one, ENFJs, and because we looked them up, ENFPs and INTJs for contrasting. Based on my knowledge of these 3 groups, I would suggest a Julie Andrews/Maria is one letter off in traits.

ENFJs are idealists - intelligent, charismatic, leaders, enjoy others, good at sizing up others, inspiring, loving - and never severe or rigid.

So, Julie Andrews definitely is the ENFJ character in the movie. She might be a low J, but she is not flighty, so she is not a P. She might have been a P in the opening scenes, but she soon settled into being a J and stayed J most of the movie.

ENFPs are classic hippie types, mellow, not responsible, no cares, flighty, etc.

Oh, absolutely - and I agree, go with the pairs theme! It works just fine. I just wanted to add another possible thread, in case any new folks didn't know that we have other threads for more than just Hollywood couples.

    You're fine!

    You really think so?
I was thinking perhaps ENFJ for Ms. Hepburn's character.

Not sure. I think i thought P because she seems more spontaneous and less time oriented than Cary's character.

Oh, btw, i watched a PBS documentary on Cary Grant, biography. Very good.
