Transgender - Why is it even a thing?

We have Baltimore rioting, bursting into flames and people looting everything in sight on one hand, then, we have... Bruce Jenner on the other. One of these is newsworthy, the other isn't.

We have people getting shot and brutalized by cops in the street because of the skin color they were born with, while we have transgender people who voluntarily go about changing their gender openly then start crying about their inequality.

Shut up, move over and sit down. There are people with real problems who had no choice in the matter that need attention, the transgender issues are nothing more than a distraction.

Why don't you shut up and move over though? You don't have anything substantial to say other than spewing your personal irritation. What if I went on to say there are problems in the world at large worse than racism in America, when then? Should I go and say "too bad black people of US, in some country out there people not only get shot, but also decapitated, mutilated, gang raped on a train whilst trying to escape abject poverty, don't even have fucking toilet paper, are hungry, women get imprisoned for having a miscarriage, scores of little girls are abducted into sexual slavery etc". No, of course not.

You failed the get the memo that the transgender phenomena is likely biologically rooted and not a choice. Blows my mind how narrow minded, fucking stupid and unsympathetic people can be. This is why they can play the "divide and conquer" game with you, and you're falling right into the trap of the distraction.

How would you like it if people started telling you to be a woman, to wear a skirt and start taking dicks? Maybe you wouldn't be so happy about that after all, but since you're not experiencing abuse and invalidation of your self, everything is peachy fine, I guess.

First of all, this is a HUGE disrespect to one of our fine forum moderators who is going through the difficult task of transitioning genders. Shame on you.

Irrelevant, moderators are not more equal than non moderators.

Using all those hormones you are bound to hit all sorts of pheromone levels. I would suggest staying out of the woods during mating season. People are the least of your problems, I hear there are bears out there. ʕ-ᴥ-ʔ

I'm probably gonna get banned for this -- but why do you act like such a dick?

I am going to start a new movement to tell people to slow down a bit because Lerxst is just getting used to the LGB and emotionally and psychologically cannot handle the T. If we could get everyone to just hold off on self expression, sexuality and gender identity so Lerxst can catch up never, I think the world would be a more peaceful place.

I think it would be helpful for all of us if Lerxst would please post a list of things that are more important and relevant so we can all lead by his righteous example. If he could please teach us to be more discriminatory and hateful it would help us to outcast an entire subset of human beings since apparently their issues are superficial because apparently they do not occur in nature, though I imagine it would be difficult to tell whether a male or female animal would prefer to be otherwise.

Ah sure, Science, Sandra! It's only a matter of time before the dolphins are able to talk and we all know how freaky those little guys like to get.

This is one of the most infuriating things I've read on this forum.

It would open up a bizarre new wave of erotica, that's for sure.

Dude, we could totally partner up and exploit that market. We've already had our fair share of freaky porn making. You sexy hunchback, you.

Oh I'm not acting, I certainly do have a dick. It may not be as big as whatever you are packing, but if you would like to touch it then get in line. I would be more happier than this turtle and his new found friend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6R3BYCT5oWw

I wish I was as happy as that turtle.

I'm actually packing some glorious titties, but thanks anyway.

I dont have a problem with anyone who wants to change their sexual orientation. It's none of my business what they do with their bodies.

What I do have a problem with is when my tax dollars are paying for it. Then it does become my business and I would be against it. Nothing personal, I just dont feel that it's my responsibility to pay for it. If you want it that badly and it's that important to you, then start saving your money, just as I do when I need something. I take no issue with anyones choices as long as I'm not contributing to footing the bill.

I respect that opinion. Just keep in mind that your tax dollars subsidize a great deal of the things that you benefit from every day. Subsidies bring a level of equality and I think that everyone deserves a shot at being happy. Making it slightly cheaper to transition doesn't bother me. It must be such a hard decision, and make a lot of people feel way more comfortable with who they are.

tax dollars shouldn't be about any persons benefit. It should be for the benefit of society as a whole like roads and schools directly benefit society.

You know, it's interesting you would bring up antiblackness because transgender issues ARE antiblackness. Do you know who in the transgender community is most likely to be killed/brutalized by people as well as police officers? Black transwomen. They are regularly arrested by white cops and assaulted for being "sex workers" regardless of if they are or not. The issue is relevant. And besides, there can be multiple issues that are important at the same time- one does not have to be more important than the other, in fact that's dismissive of you.

Reading between the lines I can see what you're saying, and I concur.

I watched the Bruce Jenner interview and what you saw with them is not what you would see if other people were talking about trans issues. Bruce is a white privileged person who is transitioning in a public way and has many privileges associated with them because of this. Bruce failed to talk about the massive violence against transgender people. Just like with gays, transgender teens are kicked out of their house. Most statistics prove that transgender people are physically attacked and murdered more often than other members of the LGBTQA+ community. So just because you saw a superficial interview that barely touched on the topic on tv, do not dismiss the issue, there are more complex things going on. You may have a point. The Bruce Jenner interview MAY have been a distraction from antiblackness. Want to fix that? Talk to some black transwomen. That was one of the criticisms from the trans community about that interview- why does Bruce get an hour special and other black transwomen are continually mocked with personal questions about their genitals in interviews? Now THOSE are some good things to question and think about.

Gender reassigment surgery is cosmetic in nature, therefore, considered an "elective", which means it's 'optional' or 'chosen' by the person undergoing the procedure. Which could also fall under 'not necessary'. As I said before, if someone feels that they need this surgery and it is completely necessary, then by all means, do it! But do not do it on my dime. I see it as a poor use of tax dollars. Hell, if the goverment is going to use The Peoples hard earned money to pay for someone elses happiness, then maybe they should throw in breast implants for all of the flat-chested tax paying women out there! They are tired of being mistaken for boys! They deserve a chance at happiness too, right?

Again, I have no problem with it unless I have to pay for it. If I'm paying, then I should have a say. And I say "no".
