People in the federal government are staying quiet like when a big company is going through a reduction in force (RIF). It seems like applause would draw attention to oneself and nobody wants that during a RIF.

It’s a shame that the government couldn’t get that budget approved.

Pelosi said AOC isn’t in charge because it’s Hakeem Jefferies. Word has it that AOC was going to primary Schumer. I think Pelosi was attempting to protect Schumer by offloading the shutdown blame. Poor Hakeem got thrown under the bus - at least that is the perception.

The rumor mill is in full swing and I think that’s the point. When nobody knows what’s about to happen then the distraction makes it easy to do whatever “they” want.

All of them are a bunch of Machiavellian’s.

When race or skin color becomes the foundation in discourse, the person who introduces it loses all credibility.

Nobody thought AOC was in charge - from either party. That much is clear. Check your inbox.

So, my take on your reportage that the "Word has it ...AOC.." is that the "word" is being amplified by the media outlets of the GOP (my take mind you, based on a quick online search with had it posted in multiple Newsmax and Foxx news spots along with posts about a left wing poll of aboutt 800 dems in ny claiming she would beat Schumer handily and her dodge of the question of a primary challenge on MSNBC).

I immediately thought of the relentless GOP campaign against Hillary which I recall beginning with her failed attempt to "reform" healthcare during the Clinton Adm and culminated in the Bengazi hearings. That campaign is widely viewed by the left leaning feminist wing of the Dem party as being a text book example of using misogyny to denegrate an opponent [The argument is that latent male (and female) fear and hatred of powerful women is a potent emotional political power.]

The fact that AOC, along with being a woman is also non-white gave the tactic of making her the "Yoko Ono" to Schumer's "Paul McCartney" extremely viable. Clearly AOC has a political agenda and is 100% against negotiating with a president who is actively (and illegally) defunding all the policy priorities she and those who allign with her (including yours truly).

It is an absolute fact that, in American political discourse, demonizing the opposition is a sure way to fire up support from those (being most of us) who react to the world at large emotionally.

I do find it interesting that you, @TomasM , call for the shutting down this thread because it is no longer focused on the impeachment of trump is itself funny as it was started after he had only been in office for 117 days, and that it is spreading "hate and division" which, to my mind is the sole most powerful political tool of the GOP (as @aeon ) succinctly pointed out in the post above.

That is not to say that the left is not using demonization and fear mongering as well, but a Left of center administration has neve unleashed the power of the American government against is people the way this Admin has (argue that its a hoax if you will but the actions of ICEis clealy un-American)
The initial evidence for his impeachment as far as the thread goes, was the charge that he is a Russian dupe. A charge that his supporters claim is a hoax perpetuated chiefly by the head of the FBI who was the guy that put the final nail in his opponent for the presidency. That same guy is now spending big money not only defending himself against charges leveled by the DOJ (apparently instigated by trump) but also buku bucks in security against anonymous members of the public who relentlessly threaten him.
That charge has never been proven false.

I am extremely bemused that the maga folks are pushing the narrative that calling a fascist a fascist is hate speak.

I don’t make a grammar effort in an informal forum. Often times I don’t even catch the auto corrects unless it is necessary.

That said, I have submitted many papers at a graduate level and my professors and GPA (3.87) demonstrate my knowledge and ability. I’m continually complimented for my writing ability.

Have you ever finished any level of formal education? Have you ever been evaluated for your writing or published anything?

I do know that you try to pass off AI as your own thoughts because it doesn’t take a genius to see that. But you go ahead and hall monitor the grammar if it makes you feel important - I’ll give that win to you.

I have ADHD and dyslexia, was never given anything monetarily for my education. I don’t make excuses.

Fix the site with a sound policy and enforce it. Stop attacking your own customers simply because you don’t agree with their perspective - I’ve seen and heard about this from multiple sources / people and the sites continued drop in active users demonstrates it. New people come and once they realize the issues they leave.

I don’t have to assume there is a lack of education because it is demonstrated with personal attacks, passive aggressive behavior, a lack of policy or enforcement, no separation of duties, excuses for site issues while blaming others for problems that could easily be fixed with simple concepts by a junior administrator. This is not rocket science [it’s 101] and it’s clear that these simple concepts are not understood.

When a group knows the problem, it’s voiced, and then nothing is done to resolve it, that’s either incompetence or gross negligence.

I don’t mind people using AI because it’s a great tool. I do mind when people use it to justify discourse and an aggressive position (without citation).

I have noticed that people who hold exclusive notions of right and wrong, moral vs amoral, freedom of speech or non plastic beliefs in history, sociology, religion or metaphysics typically go out in a blaze of dignified indignity coupled with the underlying rant that the customer is always right.

All my life, with each new encounter, the dividing line is made ever more clear between being educated, and being intelligent.

Education, to me, speaks to privilege and position, until proven otherwise. When wielded as a cudgel of hierarchy enforcement, that’s confirmatory proof indeed.

Of course, some who are educated are intelligent, and in my experience, those of this kind never mention their schooling, for theirs continues apace, each and every day.

Intelligence tends to be mentioned by the insecure, and the overlapping Venn circle of Mensa members. Those of particular gift never mention it out of fear of alienation, sometimes shame, and sometimes because they feel as much pride for it as they do the color of their eyes, inasmuch as they had no choice in the matter.

Regardless, the feint is a pathos to the degree it suggests a lack of integration, and the need-to-prove of the self-imagined less-than.

I would rather justify myself (through professors with a PhD and my GPA) after a grammar attack in an informal forum than be the person attacking grammar in that environment and then suggesting that formal education is only valid when deemed intelligent by the uneducated.

Yes, I’m proud of my education because I worked hard and finished it. Those who haven’t shouldn’t throw stones because that is true insecurity.

All that said, I don’t have to justify with education when my experience has affected everyone across the entire country. I was involved with broadcasting the DNC, RNC, and the Super Bowl. I’ve worked to save thousands of lives through public safety. I’ve been involved with multiple companies that manufacture and produce energy and brought the US back to the leading country for energy production. This doesn’t even include my certifications, personal endeavors and inventions.

Education was / is a lifelong goal and it never stops for those who take pride an anything they work towards. The accolades of education are deserved based on the merit alone but accomplishment proves the value of that education.

Fix the site and stop making excuses. You know it’s a problem and it was you (not me) that brought it to the discussion in another thread. Start increasing the value of the site and stop diminishing it so that nobody wants to stay active.
