crap, there are way too many good choices in politics.

sooooo... 26 and just starting undergrad, and liberal arts major no less? ... and you said world domination was in your future. :m145: for shame =)

I've been working, whoring and drinking.

That's a History and Politics degree right there. Churchill said that if you wanted to be a statesman you had to study history, history and more history.

Also, I never said the world. You guys are always saying that. I said Australia, Asia and Oceania.

It's never too late to start a college degree. I've met 70 year olds who have gone back to get them and then put them to good use.

As far as being a statesmen Shai, I think it has a lot more to do with who you know that what you know. You should get involved in your local politics and work your way up from there.

I was always going to be the creepy guy. As far as being a statesman, it's different in Australia than the US.

I think it is the same shit, but different faces. Hell, we got Murdoch from you guys. Anytime you want to take him back we would appreciate it.

I feel that politics is all about the dog and pony show. If I were going to be a statesmen, then I would seek classes on Public Relations and Marketing. It's all about selling an image, your image, to the people.

You might want to look more closely at the people who nearly ruled the world and what most of them had a degree/interest in. You'd be surprised to find how many history majors would be in that list

We don't want him back... His father and grandfather were great essayists, but they're all ubercapitalists by heart too.

Fuck this. I'm going to do a degree in History, and then one in Politics... on paper in this thread, so I can see what courses I really want.

I imagine you as the Bill Clinton of Australia.

I love being a history major. You won't regret it in the least bit.

A cross between Paul Keatings tact, Bill Clintons Personability, and Billy Hughes Doggedness.

My Political Degree

I know... I'd probably do the History.
I've taken some Polisci courses because I was considering doing Political Science. The classes themselves were interesting, but I wanted to strangle about half of the people in the classes. Discussions constantly turned in to debates about current issues, when we were dealing with things such as post colonial Africa. It's the instructor's fault for not keeping the class on track, but damn, some political science majors are annoying as hell.

I'm doing History and Literature for Education, and the people in those classes seem to be a lot less stubborn and annoying. I'm making generalizations, but if I were you choosing between the two, I'd do History just because there are fewer douchebags.

I suspect people who like arguing about current issues are drawn to the political science major as an impressive title to lord over those who dare to disagree with them. (Not to insult those who are into political science and the like; I'm going in that general direction myself.)
