Ronnie James Dio, legendary singer of Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath/ Heaven & Hell and of course, Dio, has died from cancer, aged 67. Truly one of the greatest Classic Rock/Metal singers of all time. I was lucky enough to meet him on the UK Master of the Moon Dio tour in 2004 and can testify that he was a genuinely nice man who cared a lot about his fans. I'm deeply saddened by his loss.

It was actually Elf that posted this.

Oops, you are right Chaz. Sorry Elf, I should have known! I was distracted in my grief! :m142:

And this one might be his best--Heaven and Hell.

His stuff was always highly poetic for Heavy Metal!! RIP RJD.......

Rest in peace. ;(

I normally don't even like the type of music he was most involved with, but I truly appreciated his undeniable musical talent. He was one of those people who could be so good at what they do, that they motivate you to listen to stuff you otherwise wouldn't. A great musician.

Fact in point, you don't find someone with his kind of voice and range too much in the Metal genre. Combine that with some truly inspiring lyrics, and a legend is born! He could do funny too. Unlike Ozzy, it was high-brow humor.

I will have to listen to a Sabbath CD on my way home from work!
Never cared for a lot of his solo work though. Other than Holy Diver.

I was so sad when I heard he died :(
He had one of the best voices in metal (I knew of).

RIP Dio.

Goddamnit it all.
First Peter Steele now Ronnie James Dio.
I am rapt with grief.
