There was something Gregg Braden said I heard many years ago that lodged itself deep within me. It went something like if you accept the big bang theory - then everything in the universe was contained in that one instant in the space of a pea - let's say. And if we accept the fact of Entanglement - then every thing present in that split moment is now entangled forever in the entire universe - until the universe ends. We are all consciousness my friend. Every single thing is consciousness - because it's ALL from Source.

And since we're all entangled with one another - guess what? - we all affect each other and every thing - continuously.

[SIZE=+1]This unique text contains 33 peer reviewed articles which cover a wide variety of issues related to the cosmology, neuroscience and quantum physics of consciousness and the experience of time. Each of these articles were rigorously peer reviewed, and they are scholarly, backed up by scientific research, and written to be understood by experts in other fields and the educated public. Time plays a central role in many human endeavors and shapes human experience, as related to psychology, brain science, biological evolution and in physical theories of the universe, from the cosmological, to the quantum realms.

Ever since the development of quantum mechanics in the first part of the twentieth century, a new world view has emerged: Although not universally accepted, the orthodox interpretation of quantum mechanics accepts a central role for measurement and observation in the shaping of experience. The repercussions of this profound challenge to everyday common-sense perception of an independently existing world, are far-reaching. Specifically, although not yet fully developed, the implication is that the mind and the universe are deeply connected. Although the branch of quantum physics known as the “many worlds interpretation” rejects a central role for the collapse of the wave function by conscious observation and the act of measurements, the implications remain that there is no universal “now” for individual observers and more than one past, present, or future, some more probable than others. As also explained in this volume, Einstein’s relativity not only predicts that the experience of time is relative to the observer, but as detailed in several of the chapters of this volume, relativity and gravity must be fully integrated with quantum field theory to address the experience of time.

The title of the present volume “The Time Machine of Consciousness - Quantum Physics of Mind” aptly raises many questions about time, such as the linearity of experience of time, the breakdown of ordinary time in some psychological states, many universes, brain processes, the connection of future to the past, and whether time itself is an illusion, just to mention a few. If, as Einstein claimed, the experience of past, present and future are illusions, then what we experience as “time” may be hindering and limiting our ability to understand and fully perceive reality. Be it relativity, or whatever interpretation of quantum theory one accepts, mind and time are intimately connected. The subtitle “Time Travel, Cosmology, Relativity, Neuroscience” identifies the main science areas covered in the book, indicating the topics from physics, to neuroscience and psychology that tie to time including alterations in the fabric of space-time which may form black holes and worm holes which involve the creation of Einstein-Rosen bridges which lead to mirror universes on the other side.

The present volume is subdivided in eight sections, covering the breadth of topics associated with time and its experience:

I: Brain, Mind And Mental Time Travel, covers mental time travel, associated psychological, cognition and related topics.

II: Consciousness, Cosmology, Causality, Neuroscience, Time, covers consciousness, space-time, causality and altered states of consciousness.

III. Quantum Physics, Relativity, Retrocausation, Precognition, Multiple Dimensions, Entanglement, and Conscious Time, covers issues of co-existence of past and future, synchronicity, retrocausation, tachyons, psycho-biological perspectives, including the paranormal, quantum information, as well as possible higher dimensions.

IV: Reality, Temporal Non-Locality, Vedanta, Upanishads, and Quantum Mechanics covers the nature and perception of Reality, experience and qualia, non-locality, ancient monistic systems, quantum reality and the mind, and even the deconstruction of the connection between quantum physics and consciousness. The question of how the classical world may appear through the veiling of quantum non-locality may provide a bridge to all systems that take consciousness as fundamental.

V. Cosmology of Consciousness, covers cosmological issues, including cosmological memory, quantum cosmology of mind, and the primacy of consciousness.

VI. Multiple Worlds, Wave Functions, Entanglement, Uncertainty Principle, Violations of Causality, and Paradoxes of Time, covers several paradoxes of time travel, multiple worlds and the multiverse, and quantum logic. The topics covered in this section illustrate the many, often controversial, issue of time.

VII. Time Travel Through Black Holes and Worm Holes, covers time travel through worm holes, a scientific topic which in days past would have been considered as science fiction.

Finally,
VIII. Conscious Entanglement, Free Will, and Quantum Measurement, covers quantum measurement and issues related to the conscious observer, free will, mass consciousness, shared attention and emotion, and advanced waves.

Here’s a bit of an update...

Hit round three is it(?) of hanging on symptoms the last few days…sometimes, it has been almost as strong as the first though they come in waves generally and don’t last nearly as long.
Still, it forces you back into your body….back into your head…it’s very much a mental game now, to break from the self-perpetualting anxiety type feelings…I have to constantly remind myself to breathe deep…relax my muscles…my back is in so many knots as is my chest if you can believe it!
Bizarre experience altogether!
Still feeling positive despite it all…saw the pain doctor yesterday…he tried to push some pain meds on me!!
Ugh!! WTF dude? You cannot give me pain meds now…there is just no way that a low dose of Tramadol will be effective unless I am fully out of post acute withdrawals!
Anyhow…I made that appointment because I felt our last was too brief and not thorough enough…he’s a bit ADHD I think hahaha…but it can be to his own detriment sometimes in how he relates to patients.
Told me to get some marijuana without actually saying it outright…hehe...already ahead of you Sir!
I actually haven’t been smoking it hardly at all these past couple months…if I do…I take one hit, that’s it as sometimes it can be too stimulating even the relaxing stuff.
All the stimulants have been eliminated…no caffeine especially!! Ouch!! Like it literally sends my system into painful overdrive…again, bizarre.
He did say that the THC ointment may help…so I’ll have to find some of that down in Oregon one day.
Overall, feeling really good about it all…I feel that I’m making progress though sometimes I hit roadblocks.
Just working to get better and become at least mostly functional again.
Just breathing...
 

Intention, Attention and the Will:

The concept of intention is pretty much like religion: often discussed and debated, seldom practiced or understood.
It’s a high frequency word in metaphysical literature but one which lacks a unified model of understanding.

One very common misconception is that intention is focused attention or thinking about something.
Although focused attention is a prerequisite to intend something (see following point), it is not the same thing.

One way of putting it is that intention does not come from our normal waking consciousness, that level of consciousness where thinking, memory and attention arises.
It comes from a deeper level of consciousness — one which transcends thinking, beliefs and preconceptions of cause and effect.

Furthermore, intention in itself is quite the opposite of focusing — it is about openness and trust.

In other words, intention comes from your higher multidimensional consciousness that is free from the subordinate thoughts and beliefs of your normal waking consciousness.

Pure intention is not only independent of thinking but most of all independent of fear.
It is fearless and comes from an inner center of power that is free from doubts and fear.

Another misconception is that intention is the same thing as will.
What we refer to as the will is the alignment of our motivation and emotional energy to an outcome.

Will can move mountains and make the oddest of outcomes even.
Intention and manifestation require the will but the will can exist without intention.

Calling for Attention before the Intention:

This is where focusing your attention comes in.
It is let’s say the prep work for intention and manifestation.

Focusing your conscious awareness onto something, energizes that idea or thought into your stream of consciousness which is later integrated and worked upon by your higher states (and deeper levels) of consciousness.

One can say that the act of focusing your attention onto something such as a desired outcome or goal is the activation stage of the manifestation process (while the act of intending in itself is launching stage of the process).

The act of focusing a goal into your stream of consciousness can be done through any way that has impact or comes naturally to you.
For instance some people are very visual and can solidify an event or situation in their mind’s eye through detailed visualisation.

However some others are not very visual and that doesn’t really matter because other ‘media’ will do just as fine — for example verbal, emotional or abstract symbolisation of the desired outcome.

You can in other words ‘feel’ your goal or yourself in a given situation, or verbally or literally (in words) assert it.
You can also be more open to use abstraction and create a symbol that represents your goal….which brings me to the next point.

Understanding the Symbology and Rituals behind manifestation

People who perhaps practice forms of ritualistic magic such as Wicca, can relate to the idea of using symbology and rituals for manifesting reality quite well.
They do understand that the power of symbology and ritualized settings have a psychological effect in that they crystallize and seed a desired outcome into consciousness.

This is exemplified for instance in the use of Sigil Magic wherein the practitioner translates the written affirmation of his or her goal into a drawing which takes the form of a Sigil (an abstract symbol).

The power of the Sigil is symbolic and abstract.
It serves to anchor a representation of the object of manifestation into consciousness.

This is parallel to the activation process mentioned above.
Focusing your attention on the symbol is the same as visualising it in that it helps in activating and energising a conscious representation of the goal.

Incubating the Intention?

Some people use the analogy of incubation to describe the idea that manifestation requires an incubation period from when the idea is seeded into our consciousness through focused attention until it grows to an actual intention of it.

Perhaps the analogy is a little bit misguided in the sense that time is not the real factor.
Energy is or as popularly referred to — vibrational frequency.

So perhaps the idea of incubation is better described as the period wherein enough energy is build up to be released in the intention.
It happens while you are consciously activating the goal through bringing your conscious awareness onto the goal to be manifested.

The energy is build through excitement and anticipation.
You emotionally resonate with the idea which in turn ‘lights’ up inside your consciousness.

Since time is not a real factor, the incubation period can be very brief or long depending on how much energy is built.

Doing the Magic: Connection, Alignment and Integration

The actual magic behind intention happens at deeper levels of consciousness, which in shamanic traditions are referred to as trance states.
Scientifically such deeper levels of consciousness can be described as Alpha and Theta states of mind.

These are states of mind which transcend the operations of normal waking consciousness.
Such states can be also accessed in deep meditation or through brainwave entrainment.

Intention is, more importantly, about connection, integration and alignment.
When accessing deeper levels of consciousness (for instance through meditation or shamanic drumming or brainwave entrainment) you are connecting to your Self as a whole.

You are experiencing your multidimensional being.
This is a state where consciousness expands and is open rather than rigid on an idea or thinking.

In this state you do not need to think about the object of manifestation.
You are just open to it and allow it to be.

You trust the process and you are now an open conduit where you let it ‘flow’.
This is intention.

You are also already aligned to it emotionally and vibrationally through the precedent process of crystallizing it into your consciousness and it is integrated into your deeper consciousness through the incubation process.

What is left is the simplest, most primordial act of magic — being you, still, conscious and alive.
THIS is where all of the creation happens.

I grew up on Calvin and Hobbes, as I’m sure many of you did.
Funny, mischievous, poignant, antagonistic, wise…the comic embodied all of these (and more) at various times. And, on occasion, all at once.
But mindfulness? How can the boy and his tiger teach us anything about that?
There are two key concepts I promote when it comes to mindfulness and meditation: impermanence and living in the present moment.
Both are critical to understanding our compulsive minds, and developing a consistent practice to overcome the problems they create.
On to the first lesson…

Everything is temporary.
But, our minds try to make everything permanent — from the car alarm (or barking dog) that intrudes on our peace and quiet, to the pain of a breakup or our failure to accomplish a certain goal.
We cause ourselves to suffer when we try to cling to what’s temporary and make it permanent. “If only” usually precedes this suffering: “If only it could be like it used to be.” Or, “If only things had turned out differently.”
The transient nature of all phenomena is a universal truth. Most people object to it, though. They think “What kind of life can I live if I view everything as temporary? If nothing lasts forever, how can I love others and allow myself to be loved?”
Thinking this way, however, is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of impermanence. The following story from “Thoughts Without a Thinker” by Mark Epstein puts it into the correct perspective:
“You see this goblet?” asks Achaan Chaah, the Thai meditation master.​
“For me this glass is already broken. I enjoy it; I drink out of it. It holds my water admirably, sometimes even reflecting the sun in beautiful patterns. If I should tap it, it has a lovely ring to it. But when I put this glass on the shelf and the wind knocks it over or my elbow brushes it off the table and it falls to the ground and shatters, I say, ‘Of course.’​
When I understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious.”​
Understanding impermanence helps us appreciate the time we spend with the people and things we care about. It also makes it imperative that we learn to be truly present with them.
Which brings us to the second lesson…

The present moment is all we ever have. It is the only time you can ever actually do anything. It is where life unfolds.
Ironically, our minds work hard to keep us anywhere but the present moment.
Our minds pull us into the past to “long for days gone by,” or to experience regret over mistakes we have made. They project us into the future to worry about things that may — or (most likely) may not — happen. Or, they create a fictional reality when everything will be perfect and we can finally be happy!
But, if you are postponing your happiness to some future moment when everything will go your way, you will never be happy.
Why?
Because your mind is never satisfied with the present moment — it will always need something else. Something needs to be fixed. Something needs to be acquired. Or, something needs to be achieved.
Your happiness is always just over the horizon. And, it will always be just over the horizon if you continue to believe your mind.
The good news is, life only comes at you one moment at a time. And, that moment is always now. You just have to realize it.

Why is that so damned hard?
To just be present without the past and future barging in!
We used to be present as children, and then other people’s priorities got stuffed in there and then they became our own.
Of course, we cannot walk around present 100% of the time…we should plan ahead for certain things or we couldn’t function.
But I don’t see why we can’t tone down the past/future think to say 25% and dial up the present think to 75%?
The article is so correct that you must choose to be happy now…because there is always something.
Easier said than done, but well worth the effort.

Our Ego's function is to Preserve Our Life and it does this by using the feeling of Fear.

It is said we are like velcroe for Fear and like teflon for Love moments in our daily lives. Whenever something painful happens it causes us great Fear because we are taught to resist it and avoid it at all costs. Yes? The Fear based emotions associated with a specific event adds power to the memory and this adds to the database of fear memories. Our society teaches us this way. We are negatively reinforced at every turn. We cannot make a mistake or there are negative consequences. There is RARELY positive reinforcement.

So you can be well assured the Ego is going to hang on to the past painful memories in order to avoid it happening in the future. Most of us live difficult and painful lives - even if people pretend and hide it well. It's probably normal that we would be stuck in the past and fearful of the future.

But whenever something loving occurs and we feel joy we soon forget it and start looking for more of the same experience so we can feel happy again. I have seen some research to support this. Daniel Seagal explains the processes in the brain and why we do this.

You say we cannot walk around being Present 100% of the time. I'm not so sure about that....not that I can do it mind you....but I have met monks and read of nuns and other people who can do it. I am beginning to sense how it might be done...but can readily understand how difficult it is to accomplish.

If we lived in a world where people worked together in cooperative communities our survival wouldn't be the issue is it today. I bet you we could be 100% Present in an environment such as that. I envision that world to come in to being one day.... and so it is.

As I have shed a lot of pain from my energy field - the traumatic memories went with them. As the Fear emotions have been cleared I find I am not as triggered as I used to be either. This allows for an opportunity to stay in the Present moment even during some kinds of fearful events. I suppose if one was able to clear all of the Fear emotions and memories from their prior life experiences - from their energy fields - then they could be in the Present moment all of the time....because they wouldn't be afraid.

I’m working on it!
I feel that I have made great progress since I have been recovering from the loss of my job and identity, and now from the pain meds.
There is still plenty to work on, and there is a part that resists even trying to work out such things…isn’t that funny…as if the status quo is acceptable, to sit here and remain stagnate.
But my will is far too strong, and I have far too many people to live for and love…and I know that it shouldn’t have to be a fight, but it is very much a fight sometimes.
My point about being present was…unless you are a Monk in a monastery or a Nun or whatnot, we have certain things we must accomplish to pay the bills and buy food, etc.
So we can be extremely close to being 100% present in the life of an average person not living off the grid somewhere…you get my gist I’m sure.
We can be present for a good portion of the day…I was very present during surgery…I had to focus on that and that alone…and believe it or not, I could not break my concentration for 6+ hours at a time…it was almost meditative in a way.
I used to be an avid rock-climber when I was younger, before the arthritis jabbed me in the back…anyhow, it is an activity that forces you to be only in that moment and that moment alone…you can’t think about other bullshit going on in your life, you only think about hanging on and making it to the top…if you break your concentration - you fall.
And I can reach that moment when I meditate and sometimes I can remain there for a good portion of time.

There is fear yes…I worry about my health…the pain in my lower back is unrelenting sometimes…
Chronic pain actually can actually cause anxiety…the physiology is actually proven…when the body is in pain, it signals your autonomic nervous system to dump certain chemicals triggering the fight or flight…this is normal of course…in chronic pain the body continuously dumps these same chemicals (usually not as much) over a longer period of time…this builds up and can cause a state of constant anxiety.
I can very much feel that sometimes…but, recently in the past few months, I feel that I have been able to deal with it so much better.
One must choose how they WANT to feel…so much easier said than done…but there is truth there…one must choose to live, to live in a state that they decide on, and then work to make it so…it is only then that anyone will see progress.
If you just cry and beg for things to change you will get nowhere fast.
It takes real work.

I think I will go meditate in a few minutes now that I mention it.

It’s applying that to actually living that is the crux of it all (to use rock climbing terminology haha).
The crux in rock climbing was the most difficult spot on a cliff…usually the area that takes you out of your comfort zone, and possibly the spot that you fall on, again and again, until you figure it out…very much like a puzzle.
But this is how one would improve…you will never be a better climber only climbing easy routes…you have to be willing to slip and fall and have your heart leap into your throat…but if you set your protection into the wall properly, it would catch you…even if the first slipped out, the second or the third is always there provided you laid the proper foundation.
We must be willing to push ourselves out of our comfort zones…I could have continued on pain meds and benzodiazpines, but they work to make one apathetic if you let them…when your heart SHOULD leap in your throat, you shrug instead…they make for a shaky foundation…when you fall, you hit the ground.
It IS scary climbing a sheer cliff face with cams and nuts and rope and a harness and nothing else…but it is so very Zen while doing it…reaching the top lifts you into the flow.

If we could maintain such focus in our normal everyday lives…wow…so much could be accomplished.
Too many times we are too afraid to fall…and so we will never get better at life in general…we are climbing the kiddy wall because we put restrictions on ourselves…we are afraid to even try.

If you are too afraid of the falling parts of life then you will never get over the crux of it all.

I love the rock-climbing example! I took a very beginner class for rock-climbing last year, and I got praised by the teacher for falling. I got stuck where the next hand hold was juuuust out of my reach, and I decided to go for it. So I jumped and didn't make it, but the rope caught me like it was supposed to. It was very satisfying to test the system, and after that other people in the group seemed less nervous about taking a chance as well. With external things, I am usually pretty good about pushing myself. Like if I am feeling afraid of heights, I push myself to walk out to the edge and look down, or I will make myself go into social situations even when I feel anxious and don't know what to expect. But with other areas of my life, I'm quite cautious and fearful.

I used to spend a lot of time living in the past, and more recently I have had feelings of uncertainty about my future. I have really been trying to practice being NOW. Just BEING in the now.

God, it is so difficult sometimes…I am so future based…much more than the past…I have some very satisfying moments in my past that I try to focus on when I find myself in the past…I immediately think of some accomplishment I made, or a memory of my Son, it’s a game I play with myself.
The future is a fight for me though…health issues will mess with you so much in that area…and that in turn adds to the stress, the high blood pressure, the anxiety…which in turn perpetuates and adds to the health issues.
*sigh*
I just have to remind myself on a constant basis to stop…look where I am…it the house burning down? No. Is there a bill collector banging on your door right now? No. Then everything is fine…in fact, it’s pretty damn good…and then I go into a few minutes contemplating my place on this planet relative to everyone else and I see even more how lucky I am…then I think of my loved ones and how we need to be present with them more, as there are no guarantees in this life that we will get to see them tomorrow…and then sometimes I cry…and it all just flows out and it feels so good.
That’s my train of thought as I turn it around...

I really miss rock climbing…I miss riding my bike…I miss swimming ( I was so fast once!)…I miss a lot of physical activities that hurt me now…and it’s easy to use the pain as an excuse to not live…or whatever one’s personal crutch is…we are all guilty at one time or another.

I find the more and more I really catch myself in a mental downward spiral and turn it around like I explained….or even just being more aware of what emotions are driving us from moment to moment allows us to stop, take a deep breath, stretch, center yourself, explain to yourself why they don’t need to be there right now.
I find it’s becoming habitual…when I stop and center and reevaluate.
I'm working on that habit becoming a constant…one day...

I love "is the house burning down?" That is great. I remember I got myself caught up in a crisis-mode mentality while I was waiting for my dad to die. I was constantly bracing for the inevitable call, and I completely shut down all "non-crucial" mental systems to conserve energy so I would be prepared to handle any emergency that came up. Even after he died, I felt like I was running on emergency backup systems, like all the lights inside of me had been turned off, and I was just doing the bare minimum I needed to do to keep my job, just going through the motions. It's funny to me how easy it is to fall into a mental habit like that and not even realize there's another way to be.

This sounds so challenging! To not be able to do those physical activities would be very difficult. I admire your commitment and persistence. On halting the downward spiral, I'm no expert but I have been working on recognizing signs that I'm getting out of balance. The earlier I can catch it, the easier it is to turn around. For me, I tend to get very caught up in my mind, and it can help me to take some sort of action in the physical world. Sometimes it's as simple as just washing the dishes, or taking care of some other mundane chore. When I'm feeling drawn away from the present and into the past or future, I often start to feel very disconnected from my physical body, so anything that can bring me back in and ground me physically is helpful.
