Since I grew up in the '80's I have to mention "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds. And I love "You're Gonna Miss Me" by the 13th Floor Elevators. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
I just listened to both of the songs I just mentioned back to back. Wow! That was intense. I dare you to try it. I also realized they are very similar in terms of theme. What does that mean? That I don't want be forgotten and not missed? Do I have abandonment issues? Or do I just want to matter to someone who really cares about me? Enough analysis for now. I love music.
 
I want to choose an ABBA song, and they produced numerous truly awesome love songs. But "Dancing Queen" is their best song, and it's not a love song, it's just a song about pure joy. If they had a song that was as good as "Dancing Queen" that was a love song, it would be a very easy contender for Best Love Song... Ever.

No - I always thought Roberta Flack was the original artist (and I agree Flack's version is the best). I chose Leona for boring blah blah different reason.

I always thought Flack's was the original too, until you posted and I looked it up. Flack's performance was what I grew up with, and we had a sheet music leaf of the song in our piano stool that I used to tinkle with, that had her name on it.

If you ask me Seeger's performance is just over the threshold of unbearable, but I think it's very interesting. Listening to it reminds me of how I prefer other recordings of "I Will Always Love You" to Whitney Houston's, although Houston's is indisputably the definitive recording, for good reasons.

I definitely don't argue with your choice to post Leona Lewis. I like Contemporary too. And often it reminds me more of times I've actually experienced.

I must humbly decline that trophy offering! I think you and [MENTION=1669]Gist[/MENTION] are the Lares or Royalty of the thread. But I'm happy to play the Knave! I do love Love Songs. :)

Seeger - unbearable - couldn't agree with you more. All I could hear was this painful screeching in my ear. I think it was a poor choice of song for her voice.

^ Love songs from Korean TV shows in particular have the tendency to touch my heart the deepest, pffff. Even without the English translation you can feel all the emotion.
