Sitcoms have always been my favorite genre, so what are your favorites past and present/most recent (last few years), and why?

    Frasier, hands down.

    Niles makes the show.

Thought i was the only one. Love this show, especially Maris, the non-existent but legendary ex of Niles.

Some of those lines are hilarious.

Niles: I remember my wedding day, standing at the altar, feeling faint, shaky, sweaty. Maris was so distraught thinking I might have cold feet. I'll never forget how relieved she was to discover that it was just a congenital heart murmur that would plague me the rest of my life.

Tom (Frasier's boss): Wait a minute. This Maris guy he kept mentioning is a woman?"
Frasier: Well, the jury is still out on that one.

Maris is like the sun except without the warmth.

Maris distrusts anything that loves her unconditionally.

My favourite episode thus far is "High Holidays" and the Halloween episode. Brillz

    Newhart/Bob Newhart Show
    One Day at a Time

Carter Country (my guiltiest of guilty favorites)
    Delta House
Doctor in the House (caught it on PBS in the 80s)

    Duet

    Seinfeld tops my list

Favorite animated sitcom is the Simpsons. Hell, it's my favorite show ever made.

Oh yeahh... Then there was the Nanny and Who's the Boss? They're so annoying now, but when I was a kid, I was all over WTB?

Not sure that it counted as sitcom but Arrested Development gets me to laugh so hard that I cry. Seinfeld and the Cosby Show are also on my list

Happy Days was great and makes me think of The Wonder Years.
I know it wasn't a sitcom, but the Wonder Years was a great show

oh yeah that was a great show! That also reminds me of My So Called Life with Claire Danes. It wasn't on for long, but it was such a good show. Also, there was Boy Meets World and Saved By The Bell, two shows which my kids loved watching.

Boy Meets World was a very well written family show. That reminds of 8 Simple Rules. We used to watch that one together all the time....so sad when John Ritter died suddenly.

    ..for reminiscence sake :)

I used to really enjoy the interplay between Alex and Mallory and when Nic came on the scene he and Mallory cracked me up. This is scene where Alex gives Mal an IQ test:
