What Are You Listening To Right Now (Part 15)

@aeon reminds me of this very old AMV back when AMVs were all the rage on the interwebs
It's funnier if you are familiar with DBZ
Dragon Ball Z - Particle Man Remastered [Old DBZ AMV]

AMV - Chronicles Of The OCD Goth Cowboy Jesus Future Overlord - Bestamvsofalltime Anime MV ♫

@Wyote

Were AMVs the rage for what they were, or at the time because of their ability to compress to small datasets which suited net speeds at the time, or both, or were there other factors?

I’m old, crusty, and ignorant. Edumacate me, please.

Thanks,
Ian

They were huge in the 90s because it was the first time basically anyone could create such a thing and distribute it freely online.
It was a creative outlet for fans who wanted to express their love/appreciation for whatever anime/show they were into, and it also served somewhat as a marketing tool for the shows themselves.

It doesn't seem like anything impressive anymore since we all have access to more advanced editing tools and bandwidth and online engagement is done by everyone instead of just geeks 🤣
