Long ago, when I was but a kid, it was so uncool to like this, and so I was uncool, because whether by being obsessed, a contrarian, or clueless, idgaf—I liked what I liked.
Anyway, I make lists in my head, like “Greatest Middle Eights,” and this is for sure on that list (and found at 2:41). He got those chords on the radio, and the song to the charts!

I loved this as a child, and I still do. This came out in 1973, when I was but four years old.
I knew all the words, and back in the day I sang along, and adults were amused and charmed. And then they would ask me what I thought it was about, and so I would tell them, and I would see their smiles go away.
