I don't get small talk either, though it's no problem with friends if it happens. Meaningful conversations on the other hand are very enjoyable. Though.. the "saving grace" is that even small talk has a purpose of some sort so something important is getting communicated even if it's not through what's being said. At least that's my take on it.
