How does one ask someone out?

My approach is usually this:
Look, I'm going to cut a deal with ya. You're awesome- and I'm awesome, right? Here's a contract setting us up as a coupling for two weeks. Now discuss.
The point being: blunt, straight to the point, and leading to a discussion.
-shrug- guess you got turned down. that sucks. happened to me at one point in time.

You know that phrase, "If you love something let it go, if it comes back to you it was meant to be?" Or whatever it is - that's the phrase I mean. I think asking someone out is the same thing. You have to take the risk... but know that they may say no. Be ok with whatever happens. And usually... you'll be happily surprised.
