I'm watching "So you think you can dance" and just imagining how many styles of dancing there are. Has anyone here danced? What styles? What's your favorite type of dance performance to watch? Any favorite performers? Post videos if you like.
I think dancing is really beautiful way of self-expression. All kinds of different dances are cool! In their own ways.
I've only danced a little bit of ''show dance'' before which is a mix of disco, jazz, hip hop, ballet, Latin and afro dancing styles. So it's a little bit of this and that, haha. I danced it in high school for some months.
Belly dancing is something I started few years after that (had to stop it for few personal reasons, too bad...) and I absolutely loved it!! The music, the rhythm. It's sensual and made me feel more feminine and confident in my own body. Someday, I will definitely start dancing it again!
I almost started a ballet many years ago, such a pity that I didn't really start it...
There isn't any dance style which is my personal favorite over the others, I just love dance in general! But if I would have to choose, it would be either ballet or belly dancing.
Very eclectic. I've never been a dancer, but if I were to dance, I'd probably go for ones that are not too showy, so that the focus is on the foot or leg moves, such as swing, or ballroom. I think jazz is also great, and I admire the hard work that goes into prepping for hip hop and ballet. I've always been a fan of tap.
My absolute fav is 40s and 50s broadway with a little slapstick. See classic couple, Fred Astaire and Ginger Roberts below.

Gene Kelly was a genius. Dance starts at 0:55 in video below.

I'm a big fan of Tutting, Gliding, Dubstep, and Hardstyle/Jumpstyle/Tecktonik dance type stuff. Classical dance can be good but I find a lot of it devoid of passion these days.

I had the time of my life, and I've never felt this way before.
