Cultural Identity Test

You Scored 59% Contemporary Idealist

As a contemporary idealist, you have a lot of innovative ideas about how the world should be run.You probably don't see a lot of value in traditionalism, and think that many traditionalists are outmoded and narrow minded. You likely believe in very permissive lifestyles, where anything goes and it's all ok as long as everyone's having a good time.

The concept of authority probably doesn't sit too well with you, and following any established protocols seems like, well, stupid. Governments, to you, are an extension of the wealthy elites who attempt to hold down the rest of society, and actually result in much of the intolerance we experience today.

You were rated an idealist because many of the answers you selected showed an aversion or disinterest in traditional beliefs. In ideas of race, heritage, culture and diversity, you scored highest in progressive, contemporary ideas that likely weren't very popular as late as fifty years ago. Many of your fellows might consider you a radical, a reformer, or just downright misguided. But don't listen to them. After all, many of the greatest movements in history were started by so called 'radicals'. Unfortunately for you, people tend to cling to their traditions rather stolidly. Fortunately, that gives you a cause! Get out there and show all those ignorant, prejudiced poltroons the true way of enlightenment!

this test demonstrated to me the complete inadequacy of my general knowledge. also, how weird was the german american statistic! now i realised, that 'american' look is actually pretty german.

The Liberal Philosopher

52% Traditionalism, 75% Knowledge, 76% Diversity, 41% Contemporary and 48% Untraditionalism!

You Scored 76% Liberal Philosopher, Congratulations!

Diversity! Cultural awareness! Sharing! Caring!

Congratulations, you're a liberal philosopher! Perhaps a bit bleeding heart at times, and maybe a little too nice for your own good, you nevertheless bring a strong sense of individualism and unity to those around you. Liberating the minds of the traditionalists from their stodgy conformity, you seek to spread the good will of peace, understanding, and diversity.

You likely find little value in the traditions of old, and instead see them as myopic and intolerant. You are very progressive in your ideas towards race and heritage, and are probably pretty much colour blind. Which is good for you, because there's no better way to lead than by example.

You are probably more sensitive to the ideas of other cultures, sometimes even at the expense of your own! But you see this as a good thing, because after all, how can diversity prosper if we cling to our own ways more tightly than to those others? It's a big, beautiful world out there, and you just can't wait to share it with everyone.

cheers,
Ian

Hey there, Modern Thinker! At the forefront of your generation, you possess the uncanny ability to ride the waves of untraditionalism that course through our fickle society and remain at the crest! Ever aware of the changing tides of politics and philosophy, you have your own niche and you stick to it. With a healthy disdain for hypocrisy and pretense, you have the temerity to say so, and are well aware of the unpleasant facts that your contemporaries try to brush under the rug. Perhaps you're even something of a cynic!

Not into the latest headlines or 'ground breaking' news? Don't really care about that archaeological discovery in Tibet that suggests Cro-Magnon man had twenty five teeth instead of twenty seven? You find other cultures interesting, but you most likely won't go out of your way to do anything about it. You know where you stand, and that's the bottom line. Well, you aren't alone, and you're actually in some pretty good company. Oscar Wilde, John Simon, Dorothy Parker and George Bernard Shaw were some of the great modern thinkers of their time, and they maintained their positions by steadfastly refusing to succumb to either the preposterous notions of the past or the rambling obsequiousness of trendy and idealistic fads of the day.

Less of an idealist and not so devoted to traditions, there's a good chance your idea of the world is your own and you don't necessarily care about what others think you should be thinking. The past? The future? This is the present, and no amount of planning for the future or lamenting the past will change that. So, you probably have a good idea of where you stand and what makes sense. And then again if nothing makes sense, it's ok, because it probably isn't that important anyways. Apathy towards current affairs can be a good thing often times. After all, are those vicissitudinous ideas the politicians spout all the time really that meaningful? They really just want your vote, and you aren't fooled by all the clever talk.

You were scored as a Modern Thinker because you most consistently chose answers relating to contemporary ideas. Concepts like race, tradition, history, and your heritage don't appear to have all that great an attraction for you, which is just fine, because most of those things don't seem to affect your day to day life. If you can get along without worrying about the traditional mating headgear of the Papu Papu tribe of Eastern Samoa, then that's just one less thing to worry about. And if you do care about such things, then you've managed to find the perfect blend between contemporary ideas and the enriching intellectualism that is so readily available to questing minds.

You Scored 80% The Intellectual, Congratulations!
Ah, the intellectual. Pure, unadultered science is what motivates you. The world is an interesting place, and you want to pick it apart and see how it works.

You are probably not all that impressed with traditionalists or liberal philosophers, or the pedestrian commonalities of contemporary idealists. You see instead a fourth path to enlightenment: that of logic and reason. Modern ideas do not interest you, as you know that every fact is accompanied by an irrefutable opinion, and there is simply no room for such romanticism.

History, philosophy, and a multitude of cultures are all familiar to you, and you revel in the delight of learning even more. There is simply no limit to your understanding, except what you are able to read. The intricacies of language are second nature to you, and you probably can speak more than one. Which is useful, because you love to travel to places where you might need it. While others are content to revel in the intellectual impoverishment of our time, you set your sights higher--probably with the aide of a sextant. Because you're an intellectual, and you probably have one.

You scored 62% on Traditionalism, higher than 66% of your peers.

You scored 80% on Intelligence, higher than 96% of your peers.

You scored 80% on Diversity, higher than 98% of your peers.

You scored 35% on Contemporary, higher than 20% of your peers.

You scored 40% on Untraditionalism, higher than 42% of your peers.

Wow, I scored as Noble Traditionalist. Funny, since people who really know me, know I'm just about as liberal and UN-traditionalist as you can get!

Contemporary Traditionalist.

Culture is pointless, heritage is pointless, politics is a market

Quite accurate

Whenever I have a cool tan people are like "Are you from xyz?" and I reply I'm from Uranus.
