What are some of the more Avant-Garde bands you listen to?

I enjoy Goldfrap, Ladytron, Zero 7, Massive Attack, Beirut among various other bands and a whole mess of small time chillout.

Here are two avant garde songs I've been listening to lately.

I like music. I don't know what's the use and moreover what's the validity of genres and styles.

I like some of the bands mentioned, especially Ladytron. I find similarities with Air, New Order (and Joy Division), Depeche Mode, Soda Stereo, Telephone Tel Aviv, Radiohead, Fischerspooner, Blur (and the other Albarn projects), Eels, Imogen Heap, Badly Drawn Boy, Dead Can Dance, R

I'm obsessed with Elephant Gun. I feel like triumphantly marching down a street every time I hear that ukulele intro.

For serious, Beirut is my happy place.

Haha, have you seen their videos where they just walk down streets and just start playing? It's brilliant!

Omg! I wanna be in an awesome band like that.

I had a dream about something like that once.
All these instruments...one big jam session. It was groovy to say the least.

I just love all the variations and instruments playing off in their songs.

I love Frank Zappa. I guess some of his music is avant garde.

How would you define avant garde? Anything that stands out?

I love Goldfrapp
My favourite album of all time is Felt Mountain
Never heard anything like it.. and I did research Ennio Morricone, whom they were influenced by and I can see the resemblances but it's great with the singing --Most of his music were instrumental

Wow, I like it. Listening to this calmed me down and lighted the mood. The style sounds so carefree.
