Are real Marxists common?

(Oops, I just realized that this title wasn't an adequate explanation of what I was trying to get at, there goes my perceiving function)




I was just thinking about it----I am generally socially despised and considered a complete oddity, freak and weirdo by the majority of people I regularly have come across and interact with daily or even perhaps weekly (I am kinda reclusive : P )

But I was in this small town and they have people from all over the world and it's sort of a resort place, but in a peculiar and strange way I was continually reacted and treated in a really hostile, and kind of aggressive or angry way. Many would say it was not true, and to be fair, it was just the way they are. They are kind of those typical loud and in your face extroverts who think everyone is a nerd or geek/weirdo who does not act like them.

But anyway, I realized as well, I don't care for capitalism at all (except for practical purposes,, but never deep down will I support or condone it) and generally I am not very materialistic at all.

But the thing is, are left leaning Marxian type people any different? I wouldn't say I am an outright communist and I agree with some conservatives about some issues but yeah, anyway. (because I am not a communist in that sense I guess lol) I have come to realize that I cannot communicate or adequately talk to most people about things---because the things I like, philosophy, and what have you, are all kind of off limits and basically fall under or in the bracket of alienation and could be considered intertwined or related to that. It's kind of maddening for me, and I suppose my whole imperative is to find ways to mitigate and make the alienation more tolerable. Like, I can't just do any job because of it.

I was a card-carrying member of the Soviet Communist Party for over 30 years as well as part of the military intelligentsia. This was no protection. I could have just as easily been pounding sand in Siberia. There is no manmade form of government that is perfect for everyone.

The whole concept of "from those according to their abilities, to those according to their needs" is very humane. The communal property may be problematic to some.

Human nature being what it is, some need to be dragged kicking and screaming into paradise while others believe an ideal society must be forced upon people through tyranny, fear, and violence.

Go ahead. Make sense of it. I dare you.

Well I mostly agree with you there. I would have to get back to you later, but maybe perhaps "Marxian" as not the correct term, but I was sort of at a loss for words at the moment. I don't want to say in general "being a good person" ----which I suppose is my answer right there. Yes, I do not want to burden anyone with moral platitudes either.

I enjoy a lively discussion, and it can be pleasurable to have my preconcieved notions challenged once in a while. As far as I am concerned, there really should be no topic that cannot be discussed reasonably and respectfully. Perhaps this is more INFJ than narrows labels.

Ethics and morals encompass a lot more than, liberal, conservative, capitalist, communist. No label fits me well, but I will call myself a communist purely to piss off the right people.

Okay so basically, I just think it's the only way forward and it's worth not completely abandoning, because what is the opposite choice then? giving into it all and simply being capitalist? it's just a total cop out and excuse. The fact that the states must always intervene is reason enough for credibility and value of these values and beliefs.


I have some beliefs that could be considered a little conservative I suppose as well and I don't fit easily under one label as an individual. There are some solutions and different ways of going about things, it's just that I think there's lots of pre-existing organized groups that tend to throw their weight around and are very powerful in influence and reason and typically when things go around, I often think it's a result of that.

I don't think we can live in a utopian or perfect world, but there are some improvements that can be made and even then it's worth trying.I think a solution would be for example, keeping things a little de-centralized, not concentrating power too much and also as well, maybe even having different groups of leftist groups who are not all on the same page as each other but are at least somewhat socialist in nature. I just don't think there's anything excuse for server inequality or staving and oppressing people. There can be at least adequate farming, clean drinking water, and some shelter from the elements. That's always been my main gripe.

No one really needs to be rich, but I suppose the samsara, the dream and fantasy of kings, and queens seem to incite the imagination of many. It's very obvious to me that perhaps human beings are hierarchy based by nature and we organize this way naturally. If there always must be illusions then simply one must master the art of illusions.


I guess the only real drastic problem is that, I sometimes think capitalism makes countries...safer? it motives SOME people to work harder, and it keeps it more secure and the like. There will always be a lot of ill-intention groups of like minded individuals out in the world, and unfortunately it comes down to that more often then not .At least, I am sure that's what leaders of the world, some of them most have concluded. It's about the military a lot of the time. Unfortunately, even if you do not believe or condone it there's a lot out those out there who don't care.

I guess I just mean, I wish I could find more people who are not so superficial and materialistic. I seem like a bum to a lot of people I think because I am not really career-oriented. It's been noted and studied a bit but I think that generally, social scientists think that young people have actually become more superficial and materialistic and well yeah, it's kind of disheartening and frustrating.

I think "free minded" too? like people who are independent of mind or something, it just drives me nuts. So many things come down to "well, those in authority say and think this" but I just don't give a damn! argh!

Oh, but I guess this is another thing I wanted to add, it just look terrible with me writing so much at once and making such huge long winded posts and stuff.

But I think it's good to empower the working class and if the upper classes get out of hand, they should always just over throw them. Always.
