As someone who was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and lived there for the first 10 years of her life, this makes me particularly sad and ashamed. Maybe it was just the neighborhood I grew up in, but I thought it was a very nice place. I talked to my parents about this recently, and apparently they witnessed less bigotry in Tulsa, Oklahoma than they did in Orange County, California. However, that isn't saying much. This is ridiculous.
