Well, that's a noble profession. Not for me, I lack patience and like to figure out things, but I definitely respect anyone involved there.
Tai chi - yes, it DEFINITELY helps. I felt results within something like two months, and the exercise really doesn't take too long. You can decide on a basic set of exercises that you spend, say, 10 minutes on. I saw Chinese people on the planes doing a quick, reduced version. I'm not an expert on this though, you may want to ask someone with Chinese background (like niffer).
