Had she flown home that night, she would still be alive. The police tried everything in their power to help both of them.
It’s amazing how Brian was able to arrive home, without her, and refused to talk to police.

What a weird case. I hope they find the guy alive and figure out what happened.
I don't trust anybody who is that cordial and polite with officers, it's obvious he's overcompensating for being a shit person.

I don’t think he was planning on killing her during the road trip. Like Brian tells the cop and she does as well, it had been a few days of little things here and there. Basically what I think happened was that morning, he wanted to get on the road and she wanted to do some video editing or whatever and she spent like 3-4 hours at that diner or whatever it was, and he was pissed at her. She probably got irritated because in her mind, this was her project, her job now, and he was there to drive and be patient. He probably diminished her blog dreams and is why she calls him a “downer” when she is talking with the police.
what I find odd is that they had taken a trip like this before, but in a smaller vehicle, but that was when they were probably in a honeymoon phase. But this time, this had become her job.
This case will change the way Utah handles these domestic calls, now the assailant will have to sit in jail for a mandatory 24-48 hours, no more just separating people or giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I think the police incident certainly exacerbated all of their issues. That coupled with the fading honey moon phase and the tension about her blog/business all played a part.

No doubt about it. She obviously had a fiery personality, since she allegedly got physical with him first (according to what witnesses reported).
I can imagine her being angry that she was basically told by the cops that everything was her fault and she should have received the citation to have that online court date. He probably threatened her from that point on with calling the cops on her and things got bad and he probably didn’t mean to hurt her bad, but he did. I’m going to fully speculate that he choked her to death.
One thing I know for a fact is that this Brian dude, is one of the stupidest mfer in America. He could have made up any story about her accidental death. But he must of thought, “my parents will get me out of this.”

This is so tragic.

I think the officers did well. They separated them and brought her to a secluded place (inside the vehicle) so she could ask for help if she wanted to. They gave her chances to say she hit him in self-defense. They allowed her to contact her parents (and she could have asked for help from them). They seemed well informed about domestic violence. Unfortunately, domestic violence targets often try to cover things up, take the blame, deny, are gaslit, and have all kinds of emotional and psychological issues that prevent them from fleeing.

They also sat Brian in the sun and didn't move him when he requested shade "because he is bald". This seems like a classic tactic to agitate him to see if he would act up. They knew what they were doing.

This is so depressing and scary.

This is such a good show. One of its more classic episodes (which I am watching on my TV right now).
