    Obama and Hypnosis

OK, this is just about the craziest thing I've ever seen: http://www.internet-grocer.net/hypnosis.pdf

    Do you have a purpose?

Same here (more or less). I have been a writer since I was a teenager... although the content and context have changed considerably from my original predictions!

What Genres of books do you like reading? do you recommend any?

lol, well i guess i'm in the minority on the non-fiction thing, but yeah: nonfiction by (1) David Foster Wallace (2) Mark Kurlansky (3) whichever philosopher interests me most that night... from Jan Assmann (yeah, he can be a philosopher!) to Galen Strawson.

    Left-handedness and INFJ

Thanks for all the info, folks! And yeah, Gloomy Optimist, left-handedness is not a simple genetic story, as I understand it. I've heard that hormones in the womb can cause left-handedness... and of course, the disposition of a woman's womb is something of a genetic matter, but it's not quite...

    Health Care Reform Defeated

One more detail I'm confused on: Billy, you came from a fatherless, drug-addled family of white people who lived in the projects and all ended up becoming millionaires?

If the government's healthcare insurance is so good...

Ha! True enough... I also wanted to comment on this: Adam Smith is very very dead now, even if he argued for his arguable theory once upon a time. The moment the words "too big to fail" crossed conservative/libertarian lips, the so-called free market officially died. And don't anybody forget...

    Health Care Reform Defeated

Why are you speaking of this in the future tense rather than past? (1) Just that stupid. (2) See 1. (3) See 1. SOLID GOLD! It's about time somebody dealt with this fiction...

If the government's healthcare insurance is so good...

FTW! However: The "both sides are wrong" position has a quaint Yankee appeal, but in this day and age, we need facts. Which "special interests," exactly, stand (stood?) to benefit from a public health insurance option? And: This really gets to the heart of the cognitive distortion (not...

    Philosophy By Request

From this thread: Why, yes I could! :-D But I'm not quite sure where to start... Although, as I mentioned in the Zarathustra thread, I'm also a huge Nietzsche fan, and have more than a passing interest in the philosophy and history of religion, my main focus is philosophy of mind. I'm...

    infjs in sports and competition

haven't tried that, but there was this awesome full-scale laser-tag arena called Photon where i spent many a childhood allowance...

    infjs in sports and competition

YES! This combined with gross-motor clumsiness pretty much seals the deal... Baseball was my nemesis. The pressure of being at bat! ...it was like a public colonoscopy. I liked dodgeball, though, and especially the variant called "elimination," which was all about defense until the final...

Why it sucks to be an INFJ

Wow, after just now reading through all four pages of this for the first time, those were the very two I was thinking of quoting, up until you did it, Grey Wolf!* On the other hand, as much as I absolutely 1000000% agree with and/or relate to every statement made throughout this thread...

    Fiction vs. Non-fiction

Thanks! Of course I could just be suffering from confirmation bias...

    Forum Representation of INFJ Type

Wow, this really resonated with me. It's always been a problem that, until recently, I wasn't at all aware of. I'm still grappling with it (look how many posts I've put up since joining!), which is to say I'm not sure whether to put it in the "Things to Improve" list or the "Accept Who I Am" list...
