I gave in and looked the quotes up and it led to his website.
I can't say I have ever heard of him.
Which after some reading, is just fine by me.

Cheater!

The cat is out of the bag. Yeah, it was Orson Scott Card. The writer of the famed "Ender's Game" and its series. I was always a big fan of his work and was utterly floored when I found out that he works on the board of NOM.

Yea, I looked it up too. I'm a huge fan of Ender's Game and I remember learning of OSC's right-wing zealotry a little while back. Whatever, you don't need to love the entertainer to be entertained. It's a great book written by an asshole.
 
Meh, I loved battlefield earth. Still do. Doesn't mean I care about the author.
