What type do you think I am, or what type do you think I come across as? I am fairly secure in believing I am INFJ, but I'm just curious what you all think since there has been some talk of me not being an INFJ (and more of an XNTP).

I'll answer any question as long as it is reasonable.

I don't think there's been any talk of you being NTP but if you have insecurity about it then maybe look into it further
If anything I might say you are ESFJ or INFP
But the way you describe yourself offline sounds INFJ
I would ask people around you IRL what they think your type is if you are unsure about it

I'm interested to know how you drew this conclusion!

I may have misinterpreted your conversation with @Umai, and you did say I have some NTP in me...

I did do that once with a woman who is in the Bible study at my apartment complex, with whom I probably talk the most out of anyone here. She did seem to indicate I was INFJ based on my explaining the typology. (Of course, she quickly lost interest in the subject, but this happened before I came to the conclusion I was INFJ, and I told her later, and she basically said something to the effect of "I knew it!" without really knowing much at all... She is older and is Fe dom, so maybe she had some secret wisdom I don't know about).

Overall you just give me more of the Consul/Provider vibe
It's very similar to what INFJs do but bigger, for lack of a better word
INFJs are reserved and are in a weird way INTJ adjacent
INFPs are a little more all over the place which is a bit how you come across as well
But that could be due to a bunch of things, including being an Enneatype 9 (I am kinda similar as a 9)

You don't need to make a whole new thread calling me out
Just ask me
INFJs all have a "tiny INTP" in them in a way, which is why we often get along with them so well
Some INFJs don't get along with them but you are definitely the kind that does
I was just being a bit funny with my comment (there is usually humor embedded in everything I do/am)

I think this is the best data you have and I am also not really questioning your INFJness at all
Because I do think IRL you are probably more that INFJ vibe and you are just excited to be on the forum, I get it

One reason that you could come across differently to INFJ is your orientation to religion - I’m thinking of the way you have expressed it in the short time you’ve been here in the forum. It’s not just your emphasis on the rational evidence for Christianity but the very strong commitment to its underlying values in your interactions. That can look very Fi which is pretty foreign to INFJ.

I’ve seen the same in myself - there is a very deep commitment to introverted Feeling values embodied in many religions. It’s as though we have a synthetic Fi suit of clothes sometimes regardless of our intrinsic type. So the combination of analytical thinking and inward facing values can look like NT with Fi grafted on somewhere in the stack, even if this is not your real type.

Also, @Hyacinth, it all makes sense in my head, LOL.

And INFJs ARE known for being unpredictable, but IDK if that is what you are saying or not.
I’m saying what John is saying above along with saying the scattered way you stated that your brain works “your words in an unrelated post, not mine”. We tend to piece together things quite easily without knowing how we do it but it’s all in an extremely organized fashion (which I’m guessing is our “judgement” function.) no offense meant I am just going by conversations that we had where you stated that is very common for you to go all over the place in your thought process and have no idea where you’re going to go next. We are known for being unpredictable however there’s usually an organized pattern involved even if know one sees the pattern but us, however, I can easily get others to follow if they ever ask me to back up and explain how I got from point A to point S in my conversation and explain in logical detail from point A to B to C to D and onwards through my brain in order to outline in extreme detail the organization of my thoughts to how I came up to an answer on something. And rarely am I ever wrong on my answers, not being arrogant so sorry if it comes across that way but I’ll have a way to prove how it is that I know what i know. I’m not usually just randomly saying things, I think it either has real value to the conversation or else I think it’ll help form a bond with a person so I’ll throw out my personal experience so they won’t think they are alone on something. That how I build up a bond with people. Now rarely will someone on the outside piece together what I can so easily see in my head or add up in my head but it’s definitely never random. There is structure and organization involved and the other additional benefit to being this way is that nothing in my environment is ever disorganized. I am the cleanest person I know and I have to help my “P” friends all the time in their organization structure because what comes so easily to me they struggle with.

I don't think having a vision of what is important to you is necessarily Fi. Many of the "well-known" INFJs were 100% sold out to a singular purpose.

INFJs tend to have a one track mind when they are on some kind of journey of truth/discovery
They have a deep need to understand, and when they think they've fully understood something they tend to proselytize it until some new information enters the chat

I didn't say that - I'm quite OK with your own assessment of INFJ.

What I'm saying is that religious values expressed with certainty and moral firmness can sometimes superficially look like Fi even in folks who are not intrinsically Fi. I was suggesting that might be one reason, together with your strong analytical approach, why you might get INTJ proposed by some, for example. I'm not saying that's what you are, just trying to explain one reason why you might get other suggestions.

There other ways that our type can be masked - I scored as INTP on my first MBTI questionnaire - this was part of a management training course and I was working in a very NT environment at the time in a job that had a strong reactionary aspect to it. I'd taken on the colours of my working environment. I knew little about MBTI at the time but when I read up on it I realised it was a mistype. I considered INFP for a while, but after a few years came home to INFJ.

You say this a lot to me... :tearsofjoy:

Maybe I'm trying to read between the lines things that are not there.

In any case, you always get clearer (to me) after the second post in our back and forth, and it tends to clarify things better (for me, at least).
It's probably down to that fiendish INFJ problem of turning my Ni into humanspeak :tearsofjoy:

Do ask if it doesn't seem right.

IRT what @Wyote and @Hyacinth said, as well as tangentially @John K,

I think the thing to understand here is that I am just a very intense person online. I am a lot less unfiltered online compared to what I am IRL. That's why you guys might be thinking, "Holy cow, this guy's foot is always on the gas!" Because I pretty much let my thoughts go wild online for whatever reason. It's like, online is my oyster. I feel more comfortable writing than I do having conversations IRL (even though it's harder to pick up emotions in text). And INFJs love to write. I love to write. It's very cathartic for me.

Totally understandable. I’m glad you feel excited in a place that makes you feel welcomed enough to open up in all your glory 😍😝🥰

No, I get it and like I said I wasn't questioning your INFJness, I just poke and prod to get people to think and you took it way too seriously.
I am far more unfiltered online as well and used to be even more so.
INFJs have a tendency of oversharing/trauma/feeling dumping and I've seen it a shit ton here over the years.
It's far better to have an avenue to release whatever is on your brain rather than bottling it up.
ESPECIALLY as a 9 since we are generally even quieter when shit goes sideways.

Yeah. I'm not offended or whatever by what you were saying. I was just thinking about it, and this came to my mind. It used to be that I was horrible at taking criticism. Now, I kinda like it because it means I can improve myself (given the advice is on point).
