They say that '86' is a code for assassination and I'm sure that Comey knew that. The '47' is that DJT is the 47th president of the US.

Now, from a third party civilian perspective, I have to admit his posting is an epic trolling, but given the current political environment, It was not smart for Comey to put that on social media. We all know that DJT likes to troll, but he did have multiple assassination attempts and that will make a person reactive. Just sayin'.

Comey knew exactly what he was doing and painted a target on his own back.

I think if Comey had posted anything with the connotation of putting an end to trumps presidency short of the word "impeachment" it would have been construed as a call to violence. I was a bartender for 15 years and used the term constantly. I also cannot recall any pop culture eg movie or tv or such that gained any traction where the term was used in place of killing some one (though given how mobseter dialoge is replete with suggestive language I am sure there are examples.) There was a star wars toy drone that was known as Assinator 88, does that count?

on the web now this is trending "8 miles out of town and 6 feet underground" as what the vegas mafia meant by 86. but doing a google search for the phrase prior to 2014 returns no results. Not that that turn of phrase was never used it just has not been common parlance. Unless may be trump has used it in getting rid of somebody?
 
looks clearly like the maga bull horn sections is, once again, bending the language to fit their narrative. and why wouldn't they? it works so well...(i am not joking) just look how quickly they latched onto their interpretation and then sent the SS to intimidate the former FBI director (who btw handed trump his first electoral victory). next thing they will be deporting him to Sligo ffs.
 
It is all part of his Reality Show Presidency. There will be peanuts. There will be popcorn and face-painting.
 
I sometimes wonder who pays more attention to Trump. It’s a close race between those on all sides.
