It’s surprising how many artists’ music is posted who I have never heard of before. My taste is generally more mainstream. I was never into Indie music in general.

I had just started high school and was 13 years old when this came out, and I loved it.

I still love Ultravox. I will never tire of...well, this will explain it! :)

Back then, it was none too easy for an American teenager living in the Midwest to obtain UK releases as imports. But I found a way. Of course I did. I was obsessed with music (still am), was a music anglophile (still am), and I loved post-punk and new wave (still do).

The melody in “Reap the Wild Wind” is just superb, but Ultravox delivered melody in spades, did they not?

And the sound of Billy Currie’s Yamaha SS30 string machine on that song is just the business, full stop.

Yes I love the bass in that song. I also love Hymn, one of the first singles I bought in the early 80s. You must be around my age.
