Anyone else here a fan of Mr Cohen? Besides MH...I already know she is.

He's easily one of my absolute favourite artists besides good old Bob! The lyrics, that gravelly voice and his backing singers all come together to make some amazing music. I'll be seeing him at The Hop Farm in September - really looking forward to it!

@Cornerstone: I like him quite a lot, but I am by no means an expert on him.

His song writing is good, his preforance of those songs is meh.

this is one of the greatest tunes he wrote but nobody except Nina Simone could deliver it with any kind of real depth. It is a difficult song, way more poetry than music, and the ethereal nature of the his folk music is (in my opinion) incapable of transmitting the raw feeling that the song requires

I'm considering going to see him in concert. I haven't listened to much of his music, but I'm considering going nonetheless. He's a legend and I could probably enjoy myself and perhaps come to appreciate his work. Which, just to clarify, it's not that I dislike it, I just haven't heard it much.

I do like his studio version of Anthem better but I really like that live version of I'm Your Man.

It was from watching Natural Born Killers that I got into his music.

Hallelujah is pretty good, but I haven't listened to much else.

I love him. His poetry really hits home. I wonder though, if he'd still be doing shows if he didn't have his fortune robbed from him. He must be exhausted.

Like a bird on the wire,
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.
Like a worm on a hook,
Like a knight from some old fashioned book
I have saved all my ribbons for thee.
If I, if I have been unkind,
I hope that you can just let it go by.
If I, if I have been untrue
I hope you know it was never to you.
Like a baby, stillborn,
Like a beast with his horn
I have torn everyone who reached out for me.
But I swear by this song
And by all that I have done wrong
I will make it all up to thee.
I saw a beggar leaning on his wooden crutch,
He said to me, "You must not ask for so much."
And a pretty woman leaning in her darkened door,
She cried to me, "Hey, why not ask for more?"

Oh like a bird on the wire,
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.
About sums it up that. I love Leonard Cohen. Tower of Song, Hallelujah, Last Year's Man, So Long Marianne, Everybody Knows (relevant as ever)...and many more :)

Oh man, I'm a huge fan of Leonard Cohen.

My favorite album is Songs of Love and Hate. All the songs on it are perfect.

I also love "Master Song", "Suzanne", and "So Long, Marianne."

By the way, I'm also a fan of Bob. I even named my son Dylan after him. :)

I am a big fan of Leonard Cohen. My really good friend hooked me up. In return I hooked him up with Tom Waits. Not sure whom I like more. Lyrically, probably Cohen.
Some of my favourite songs by Leonard:

Chelsea Hotel # 2
Bird On The Wire
Avalanche
Famous Blue Coat
Hey, That's No Way To Say Goobye

Pretty much Songs of Love and Hate has been listened to the most..

My wife introduced me to Leonard Cohen.
When we first started dating, she made me a CD of some of her favorite music and I was totally blown away by "Famous Blue Raincoat."
I'd never heard anything like it.
She had heard of Leonard Cohen from the Nirvana song "Pennyroyal Tea" ("Give me a Leonard Cohen afterworld/ So I can sigh eternally...)

Been a fan of his for awhile, Hallelujah was the second song I learned on the guitar. Have to be in a particular mood for that sort of music though.

Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah has always echoed right down to my soul like no other song ever has.

He was an insightful and soulful artist.
