Sadly, James Horner passed away yesterday in a plane crash in California; he was an avid flyer and was piloting a military trainer he owned at the time.

Horner has composed the scores for over 100 films including well-known ones such as: Alien, Star Trek, Titanic, The Amazing Spiderman, Avatar, Field of Dreams, Apollo 13, Land Before Time, A Beautiful Mind, Braveheart among many others.

That's a bit shocking and very sad... such a brilliant, talented, and well-loved person. Such an icon in film scores.

The first-half is beautifully composed.
 
The same composer that did Skyrim's score, Jeremy Soule. He also did for a game I used to play:

A controversial film north of the border but there's no doubt it captured something of the mood in scotland at that time and since

I'll never forget my amazement at how he evokes those sounds from a harp. I love the sounds of the ancient instruments in these new creations.
