if you base happiness on material things then everyone can't be happy because there is only so much stuff in the world. no one can have it all. If you win the lottery that will make some people you know VERY angry. So. Thats their choice. you can choose to be happy because you are and they can choose to be unhappy because you won the lottery and they didn't. You both have the right to choose this.
Someone mentioned about jobs earlier. If you get a job that means someone else missed out. Why does being happy depend on whether or not you got the job. Why not just be happy anyway?
