When I traveled to Sweden and Denmark I actually saw something like this - a soldier fainted in the middle of a ceremony. He nearly hit his head on a lamppost or something. Pretty scary (and embarrassing).

In the cadets that used to be a real problem, our corporals were charged to keep an eye out for anyone who looked ill or terse and remove them quietly.

Why doesn't this happen all over?

It's pretty funny. The guy had his knees locked if they were bent ever so slightly he wouldn't have fainted... *tisk* *tisk*
